He needs to add couple of yards pace. Couple of lucky wickets? Bowling someone out, a plumb LBW and getting an obvious edge (Stokes) is considered as lucky now? PK bowled at much helpful surface than this.
Fontaine Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 There's no great mystery, the issue with Yadav, Bhuvi, Shami etc is the same. These guys have to get more experience and get better. The best way to do that is if they stay fit and work hard on their respective skills. From working the angles (close/wide of the stumps, over/around the wicket), getting better seam position consistently, and getting an extra yard of pace as they mature and getter fitter. All these things happen when young bowlers apply themselves, their workloads are managed and they are committed themselves. In the past we didn't have that. Guys like RP Singh, Patel, Sreesanth, Pathan etc lose form, get injured, don't work hard enough on their abilities and fitness and never take the next step. Thankfully, Shami/Bhuvi/Yadav/Pandey/Pankaj don't seem like the type who chase after celebrity status and seem to be good, level headed cricketers, so we'll see how they pan out.

The ball was swinging for all the seamers. He was successful. Now, he has to be more consistent in his wicket taking performances. That is the issue with most Indian seamers. Problem is, the ball does not swing in most places or under most conditions. That has has resulted in Bhuvi not being a wicket taker even in ODIs. And he has played quite a few. Also, pace of atleast around 130 k is needed. 125 k is not ideal. He has to increase his repertoire. One good thing is , BK is a quick learner and honest trier and might do it.

He seems to be willing to learn and seems to have the hunger to do well unlike some of the lazy knuckleheads who played for India before and actually had more going for them in terms of ability but just frittered away.

I bet it will be more interesting to watch and encourage youngsters to take up fast bowling.
