http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2014/07/indian-lawmaker-force-feeds-man-fast-201472310193025476.html TV footage shows lawmaker from Hindu nationalist Shiv Sena party shoving bread into Muslim supervisor's mouth.
There has been outrage in India after television footage showed a member of parliament from hardline Hindu nationalist outfit, Shiv Sena, trying to force-feed a man fasting for Ramadan, according to reports. The incident took place last week in the capital, New Delhi, when eleven Shiv Sena parliament members confronted catering supervisor, Arshad Zubair, at the new Maharashtra Sadan, The Indian Express reported on Wednesday. The MPs were complaining about the quality of food offered at the guest house for officials from the state of Maharashtra, where Shiv Sena is based. The footage showed MP Rajan Baburao Vichare attempting several times to push the bread into the supervisor's mouth as a crowd gathered. Vichare said he was not trying to break the supervisor's religious fast. Instead he was trying to demonstrate that the chapatis or piece of bread, being served were too hard. The catering company's general manager said the supervisor had been "deeply pained and hurt" over the incident as "religious sentiments are attached". The manager said the MPs had marched into the dining hall last week flanked by television crews and threw kitchen items around. "They also issued physical threats to the kitchen and service staff while using highly objectionable language," the manager said in an email to a Maharashtra government official, which was obtained by the Indian Express newspaper. The complaint said the victim was wearing a formal uniform with the name tag at the time of force-feeding; an act caught on camera and circulated widely on social media. Uproar Opposition Congress party legislators launched raucous protests in parliament, saying the MP had violated the man's religious beliefs by aggressively trying to shove a chapati in his mouth. "It is absolutely reprehensible and should be condemned in the strongest possible manner," Congress party spokesman, Manish Tewari, later told reporters. A top official of western Maharashtra state, Chief Secretary J Saharia, has said, "There are allegations like this. We are examining the whole issue and appropriate action will be taken", according to The Indian Express. Shiv Sena, a key ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party which swept to power in May elections, has a reputation of blocking Valentine parties besides promoting ethnic and religious chauvinism while targeting minorities, particularly Christians and Muslims in India. The incident is likely to fan concern among Muslims and other religious minorities over Modi's Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

It's a case of an MP forcing a catering supervisor to eat but it has become like a Hindu MP forcing a muslim man to eat MP should be punished, but can't stop laughing at media morons and their projections :haha:

I actually truly believe that the he wasn't really trying to break his fast, but remonstration via shoving food down someone's throat, issuing physical threats is not done. Also, this footage was recorded by channels last week but was only aired today - why?

What about the Muslim guy who raped a 6year old in Bangalore recently? Why doesn't the media call out his religion?

But in this case he was fasting so that point does become important

Because in that case the religion did not contribute in the rape. In this case, force feeding would not have been a big deal if he had not been fasting, therefore the point becomes important

What a load of BS. The MP didn't do it because the waiter was a Muslim. Had the waiter's name been Ramesh, they would have done the same thing. The motivation was the bad food, not the waiter's religion. Their behavior is certainly indecent but stop giving a communal twist to it. Never understood that at all, what is it with Muslims and victim mentality.

I tend to believe that waiter being Muslim is just incidental. Though I won't rule out that shiv-goons carried on doing so even after coming to know that he is muslim and fasting. In fact it wouldn't have made difference to them. In any case it is outright hooliganism from shiv-sena MP's. But having stayed in Pune for few years, it is pretty normal and expected behavior from Shiv-goons, a long timr ally for ruling party, BJP. And I can say, they would be feeling very safe in doing so in Modistan.

Bhai mere, waiter goonga hai kya?. It may 've started off as incidental but surely the guy in question would have said he's fasting. He was forcefed inspite of that ,shows the respect there is for him and the religion he follows. India on it's way to becoming the hindu version of Pakistan

Totally agree the guy was wrong in trying to forcefully feed someone but how could he have known he was a muslim or he was fasting. Yes lock up him up for acting like a b grade thug but bringing up a communal angle to it is even more disgusting by the media. The media honchows in delhi are playing the footage every half hour since yesterday giving a new communal twist to it & giving various kanspiracy theories. I request people atleast in this forum to use a bit of thought while posting & not to fall prey to our great media.
