someone Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Kerala schools stop serving midday meals during Ramzan Midday Meals, it seems, are never far from controversy. The latest news on the front comes from Kerala, where, citing Ramzan fast as reasons, Government schools in the Malabar region have stopped serving food to children. Not only this, school timings have been altered as well. All this, despite the fact that Government schools impart education to students belonging to all religions, not just Islam. According to a report in Malayalam daily Janmabhumi, the policy has been sanctioned by the Education Department and a majority of Government schools in districts such as Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasargod have complied with it, forcing students of all religions to go hungry despite Ramzan being a Muslim month of fasting and prayer. Some Parent Teacher Associations have challenged this decision by sending a written complaint to the Minister’s Secretariat, but to no avail. The daily said that there are some schools in places like Thiruangadi, Vengara, Thennala, Mancheri, Cherumanna, Thanoor & Vanimel that function to the Islamic calendar. These schools declare holidays for a month during Ramzan every year. Some schools even suspend classes before lunch hours during the month of Ramzan. In addition, there are no classes on Friday and some schools have even been taken over by Islamic hardliners who are working towards enforcing Islamic rules and systems there. Kerala State BJP president V Muralidharan has alleged that changing school timings in Malabar region in the name of Ramzan is against the law and a blatant attempt at religious appeasement. Kerala is getting very dangerous. Expect a lot of separatists stuffs to grow there and full Islamization. But as with Kashmir, no media groups or sickular brigade will pay attention to it, and no news are shown about such incidents. Kerala, the perfect place for Indian so called secularists.
Crookbond Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 What is it with OP, his eyes always lit up whenever he sees any article discussing Muslims. http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showpost.php?p=3035820&postcount=24
Laaloo Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 It's not as far fetched as you think secularism :isalute:
RedFever Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 secularism :isalute: The irony will be these states wont remain secular once they have a muslim majority.
someone Posted July 24, 2014 Author Posted July 24, 2014 The irony will be these states wont remain secular once they have a muslim majority. +1. The signs are already here like recently TRS MP talked about Telegana being not being part of India. Already, there are several public areas where one cannot go due to being a non-Muslim.
BlueBee Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 This is not justice. There are many non-muslim childs studying in those schools. Even some go to govt. school only to eat the meal because they dont get enough food in home. Should take an action. PS : It would be better not to discuss religious stuffs here.
gs Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Why should the school stop serving meals? Those who would like to fast have an option to opt out of it. For fecks sake, these are govt. schools run on tax money, not madrassas run on "gelf" remittance.
asterix Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Yesterday I missed a train to Liverpool as the minicab turned up late... I was agitated. The driver calmly told me that due to Ramadan going on, there are very few mini cabs operating... I couldn't understand the connection...

Filandering Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 It is school's prerogative. It is free country.
Stuge Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 It is school's prerogative. It is free country. Its not ,if a school is a govt school and getting aid from govt to run school .
BlackMamba Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Its not ' date='if a school is a govt school and getting aid from govt to run school .[/quote'] Even if it is a not a govt school it is not, you need to operate within the parameters set by the law.
diga Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 How ironic that when someone is fed forcefully ,it's all over the media &all the seculars get their panties in a twist and here in a poor govt school eligible for midday meals, when children are denied food there is a ghastly silence
