dont know if dhoni was laughing but his selection of ishant probably played some part. same with rohit who you wanted in this test (at cost of a bowler), rohit kept better candidates out.

at the end of the day, its not like india bowlers were beaten blue. they tried, got unlucky and chances dropped and not given and england also played well. its happened to other teams. atleast we are not trundling or carrying dead weight. shami is a concern but hopefully he strikes soon. someone needs to tell him to act up and bowl fuller. since nz he has been a different bowler :( hoping for a better day tomorrow. i believe we are a seamer (aaron) short

It is really strange that a 6'6" pacer who can bowl 135 to 142 k , swings the ball both ways, seam movement too, steep bounce and takes loads of domestic wickets ..... was not even among our national team reserves ... Now the poor lad is 30...

This is the main thing. I am a big fan of this theory. A bowling attack has promise in Test cricket as long as it is not carrying dead weight anywhere. In England, often everyone other than Praveen was dead weight. Here it is different. Bhuveneshwar was probably the worst of the seamers and even he did not leak runs and beat the bat occasionally.

Maybe Rajasthan cricket association's troubled relationship with BCCI has something to do with this.

All the seamers are bowling with objectivity and effort. Another interesting thing is that we have at last got variety. Pace, bounce, swing, seam movement, control. Our pacer pool has it all to take care of various conditions that invariably present themselves in tests. Now, if we can bring in Umesh, A pool of Umesh, Shami, Ishant, BK , Pankaj, Aaron and Pandey would be very competitive.

Umesh is a must. There are not many bowlers in the world who can swing the ball at 90 mph. And have a test strike rate of 46.

+ve signs are that our pace bowlers beat england's at lords. and even though they struggled today, there were chances. They just didnt have the same potency. They will get better but its important to draft new bowlers in and show that there is competition. That will improve our pacer's hunger, i.e. shami.

Actually Aaron is in the squad too......glad pankaj did well.....wouldn't have minded Aaron a go ahead tbh...maybe in for shami the next game

BK,Ishant,Umesh,Shami,Pankaj,Aaron we should continue with these 6 bowlers in Tests.Rotate them give them enough matches.I'll go with these 6 in Australia. Unfortunately Ishwar misses out coz we've his bigger,taller,quicker & more experienced version in Pankaj.

I didn't see the match today, so don't know how he bowled. Apparently, Jadeja dropped a sitter off his bowling early in Cook's innings. Regardless, it is an opportunity well earned for Pankaj. I hope he gets some wickets tomorrow.

Healthy competition is the way to go if improvement has to be sustained. But potent bowlers cannot be dropped altogether like Umesh. I think we now have the biggest collection of test quality pacers in our history in our team now.

Didn't see the match today....good to know he is not an average 120-130k tundler....will watch how he does tommorrow So far so good but needs to pick up wickets to show all the experience he has gained over the years as our top domestic bowler. Hope his 140k speeds where not a one time to show he can deliver at internationals...hope he can consistently maintain the speeds.
