seedhi Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 I found it laughable people comparing this incident with the incident shiv-sena MP's incident. In this case people did the crime are criminals. In other case people perpetrated that forceful act are "LAWMAKERs". In this case people involved in the incident have been arrested while in other case all MPs are roaming around with same arrogance. Don't draw parallels when there are none.Firstly, the reason Shiv Sena MP was not arrested is because the offenses are of a completely different nature. One is force-feeding and the other is gangrape. I am not even sure whether an FIR was filed by the caterer. So don't compare the arrest or non-arrest of accused in completely different crimes. But as far as comparison go, recall the coverage of the Muslim Techie who was killed in Pune. The headlines blared out his religion. In this gangrape case as well, the incident (as per the complaint itself) has a religious motivation but none of the headlines (on English news channels) displayed her religion prominently.

I never compared these two events in either way. Go and check thread who brought Shivsena MP's to this thread. Don't follow much of news channels myself english or hindi one. I read Indian express and they published this news in right manner with appropriate column space on front page under title - Former madrasa teacher alleges forced conversion, gangrape- which rightfully covers religious fanaticism involved in this case.
gaurav92 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Why do the media use the Word "Muslim" when the victim is a Muslim and never use the word Muslim when the offender is Muslim? I am not intending to hurt anyone's sentiments, but there should be same standard either way, no ?
asterix Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Why do the media use the Word "Muslim" when the victim is a Muslim and never use the word Muslim when the offender is Muslim? I am not intending to hurt anyone's sentiments' date=' but there should be same standard either way, no ?[/quote'] There's a logic behind that... Muslims are a minority community, weak and unable to take care of themselves... They need to be protected, in whichever way possible... The majority community, by just being majority, are strong and can take care of themselves... So there you go...
Mariyam Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Shame. A teacher is gang raped and held captive in a madrassa, that too during the month of Ramadan, and forced to accept Islam. And the rapists are a local panchayat leader, an administrator in the madrassa. These are the kind of people who are supposed to take care of the kids in the madrassa? We've fallen to such a low.

Lust and greed, does not matter if it is madarsa, mandir, school, or college, can bring the most supposed high morale people down.
gaurav92 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 There's a logic behind that... Muslims are a minority community, weak and unable to take care of themselves... They need to be protected, in whichever way possible... The majority community, by just being majority, are strong and can take care of themselves... So there you go... The use of minority card in vote bank politics is fine, but in cases of crime, the religious aspect must not be looked into after all no religion teaches us to commit crime. Its the individual and not his religion that does the crime so why blame or pinpoint the religion. We must neither use the religion of the victims nor the offender in our news, thats all that I want, a crime is neither committed by a Hindu nor a Muslim, its all done by beasts who don't deserve to be called Hindus or Muslims. But our great media has portrayed a very wrong picture and has brought crime in religious parameters. What a shame ! Shame. I wish the whole country was as unbiased as you :hatsoff:
Mariyam Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Lust and greed' date=' does not matter if it is madarsa, mandir, school, or college, can bring the most supposed high morale people down.[/quote'] Lust and greed doesn't explain why she was forced to convert post the abduction and gang rape. Its a sick mindset with a false notion of superiority that makes people act in this manner.

I am not intending to hurt anyone's sentiments' date=' but there should be same standard either way, no ?[/quote'] Depends whether religion is involved in incident or not. In this case it is involved so should be reported accordingly and is being reported also. One example I quoted above. This is another example. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/india/11014030/Hindu-woman-gang-raped-and-forced-to-convert-to-Islam.html
gaurav92 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Any Indian media doing that? Anyways I am not for it, I think religion and crime should be kept at poles.
Raghav_12 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Any Indian media doing that? Anyways I am not for it' date=' I think religion and crime should be kept at poles.[/quote'] Crime fuelled by religion should be reported accordingly. But if either party's religion has nothing to do with crime then it should not be reported.
King Tendulkar Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Why do the media use the Word "Muslim" when the victim is a Muslim and never use the word Muslim when the offender is Muslim? Marco Polo Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Why do the media use the Word "Muslim" when the victim is a Muslim and never use the word Muslim when the offender is Muslim? I am not intending to hurt anyone's sentiments' date=' but there should be same standard either way, no ?[/quote'] Because the rape victim in this case is from a majority community and she can take care of herself since she is from majority community.
Crookbond Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 so somebody threatened her for not reporting :wall:
seedhi Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Er.Vikas Gupta @Vikasguptaorg Aug 4 @kavita_krishnan blames the whole 'savarna' community for dalit rapes. But Muslims shouldn't be blamed for Meerut pic.twitter.com/6OFydUbpL6
diga Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Kavita krishnan Ahh DM, there is a difference in threatening someone & hoping something bad happens to them and people like Kavita Krishnan who occupy the position of some women's organisation ought to show more sensitivity than that tweet. (ps: Not that some zealot may see it on twitter and try to act on that.)
