Very articulate and will atleast not continue embarrassment off the field with the dumb a** comments. Has that CSK connection if Srini Mama wants to use that as a criteria :dontknow: Just like Kumble will continue being our primary bowler on home pitches(Hopefully) while gains experience overseas. WIll be a good alternative than putting captaincy pressure on our young batsman like Kohli,Pujara,Rahane etc. who still haven't found that consistency and captaincy pressure could be the worse thing to happen to them. With Ashwin we can atleast use him as a stop gap option until we really really groom someone if as a player his performances go down.He surely is more dispensable than say a Kohli or Pujara. Next Series is against WI where there is a good chance him personally and the team as a whole will do well....so that will be a great confidence booster and a good start to his captaincy. These are all the positives I could think of....I think Ashwin seems to be the best fit

You think just because Pujara,Kohli,Rahane or whoever are not connected to Srini just because they don't play for CSK :haha: The guy not just owns CSK but BCCI and ICC as well so not just CSK players,every player in the team is more or less has to be approved by Srini

You don't want a captain whose place in the team itself is not certain

But the thing that works against pujara is Ashwin is for now a regular in all 3 squads where as pujara is a test specialist. Kohli needs to turn it around fast as before this series he was a clear no 1 choice.

Virat would be the next logical choice but he looks like a shell of a human being this series. Ashwin is a decent option IMO. Not great, but decent. The other choices are like Gambhir (LOL), Jinks (naw), ChePu (also looks like shell), Vijay (naw). Maybe a pure captain is in order. are we desperate enough to bring Zaheer back as pure captain??? probably not
