Ofcourse, its sub-par performance... but we played majority of those games against Eng/Aus/SA who are better test sides than us

England were not better than us. They were struggling so much that place of Cook,Bell,Prior was at stake. They also had lost KP, Trott and Swann in recent past. Equally struggling teams. Yet we lost the series, and two of the tests were lost in just 3 days. Also, even though other sides are better we should not surrender. We are not minnows. We failed to win a single test versus OZ and ENG in 2011. No win against NZL and SA. 1-3 here.

I welcome Shastri's appointment. It takes me back to the 80s and early 90s when crowds would pay homage to the great man in every game by chanting the following famous sloka: Shastri hai hai! Shastri hai hai! Shastri hai hai! Does anyone recall? I thank BCCI for giving us another opportunity to pay our respects decades later.

I think its ad-hoc appointment. Do you guys remember Ravi shastri got appointed as director for the Indian team right after India lost badly in 2007 wc? I think its for Bangladesh tour he was appointed and I remember Manoj tiwary getting injured in the practice game which ended a promising career.

Earlier during the tour one of the India cricketers had a problem with an ESPNcricinfo headline that had a pun in it. The media manager was asked to convey the displeasure. If Shastri had been the coach and had he known this was bothering a player, he would have told the player these things don't matter. Runs and wickets and catches do.
