YCCC Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 At the moment, possibly. But 'ever' I don't think so. Candidates for me would be Richards and some lad from Mumbai you may be rather familiar with

Kohli is the best ODI player at present and his records speak for himself. Not talking about Strike rate and Avg only but due to sheer disdane he chased those improbable targets. Don't go by his test failures...he is the best ODI batsman easily.

sensible-indian Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Best ever in ODIs: No 1 - Viv No 2 - Sachin
sensible-indian Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Amla isn't the No 1 ODI player in the world. That goes to Kohli or ABDV.

kosingh Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 You are using statistics to rate batsmen. Personally, my favorite ODI batsman ever is Viv Richards. But if you must use statistics, then there is no way anyone can beat SRT.
zep1706 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Best ever in ODIs: No 1 - Viv No 2 - Sachin Arguable. It is true that Viv has higher average and SR (not by far though although those numbers were mind blowing for his time) Sachin has hit a lot more 100s. Viv has just 11 hundreds in 187 games. At the same rate he would have had 27-28 hundreds had he played as many games as Tendulkar, Tendulkar has 21-22 more.

AmreekanDesi Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 LOL even currently both Kohli ad AB de villers are better than him

Both are GOATs in ODI but Viv is greater than Sachin in my view. Even if you take neutral fans' views, its Viv all the way.

zep1706 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 So by your argument' date=' Amla is better than Tendulkar[/quote'] I did not make a definitive statement. I said it was arguable.
CSK Fan Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Even if you take neutral fans' views, its Viv all the way. Actually I disagree. I have only heard this from most Pak fans and some Indian fans. Not even West Indians themselves consider him above Sachin though they do say he is an ODI great. So I do not think most neutrals put Viv ahead, Aussie put Sachin ahead, mostly because he performed against them in ODIs. Anyways, this one is too close to call so I would be happy with either way
