vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PupGJ_eIcYA]RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN on INNOVATION - YouTube[/ame] This is an old footage.. Ashwin whether he does or not will be a great coach :winky:
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 In light of doosra bowlers getting banned, carrom ball will soon become alternative of doosra.
G_B_ Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 look how lean he was fatass needs to understand he is a professional athlete with some talent. Make the most of it.
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Bedi said Mendis would take 500 wickets easily. Ashwin came after him, picked from him now he has surpassed him lol.
BlueBee Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 He needs to do well in overseas, especially test. Nonetheless a good all round player. Does well in slips, though need to improve ground fielding.
Number Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Lankan trolls on that video's comments section. :D
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Ashwin clearly says his arm is always straight. I believe he will never be questioned for chucking. In a weird way he can't chuck even if he wants :cantstop: (not the literal chucking)
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Lankan trolls on that video's comments section. :D Ashwin left him far behind :cantstop:
ThePhenomenal1 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 look how lean he was fatass needs to understand he is a professional athlete with some talent. Make the most of it. eating all them dosas and idlis ehhh need a fit ashwin, and one that can catch a skier!
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 eating all them dosas and idlis ehhh need a fit ashwin, and one that can catch a skier! To be fair idli/dosas won't make you fat :winky: Idli is one of the best post workout meall. Major brahmin diet in TN is curd rice , ghee. You have fat, carb, everything there. Ifr you throw in the modern day junk food, deep fried dishes you are bound to put on weight. Having said that if you have high metabolishm like i had in my younger days you can eat pretty much anything still look ripped.. Don't think it is diet alone. His physical attributes may be like Uthappa who cannot lose weight like others because of a condition.
moniker Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 How the hell does he impart that much force on the ball through the middle finger? Must really exercise it a lot.
PBN Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 In a weird way he can't chuck even if he wants :cantstop: (not the literal chucking) That's good. One thing I'll add is for Ashwin to stick to his own action. Recall when he copied Narine's action, it seemed quite dodgy
Crookbond Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Interesting Fact - The first bowler to bowl the modern era carrom ball is .... Rangana Herath vs Australia, Galle (1999). Wisden Almanack Report http://www.espncricinfo.com/wisdenalmanack/content/story/154088.html Not even the weather could disguise the ineptitude of Australia's batting. On the third day, which was restricted to a late final session after heavy overnight rain, they lost their remaining five wickets inside an hour to be all out for 228, 68 behind on first innings. This time it was Sri Lanka's debutant left-arm finger-spinner, Rangana Herath, who did the damage. Having begun the day with nought for 78, he now claimed four for 19 from 6.3 overs and demonstrated a wonderful delivery, bowled out of the front of his hand, which turned back into right-handers. Rob has uploaded a series review video - you can see the ball between 6:32 - 6:45 9kzZ8K7CZGQ

I couldnt find his video but i found another bowler using similar technique wMceb6RpnZM If Lyon bowls this in the UAE,Pakistan will have problems.
SLICKR392 Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 ^ ****! That was a good ball. Did it skid and straighten?
cricketjoshila Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 ^ ****! That was a good ball. Did it skid and straighten? Yup it did.Thats how Hearth bowls his other one as well.I hope Lyon bowls a lot of them versus Pakistan. Also he needs to use the scrambled seam.
vvvslaxman Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I think Lyon gives a lot more thrust than Ashwin. May be it got something to do with strength of forearms. If Ashwin can strengthen his forearm a bit more he will be far more effective as it skids on giving less time to react. Also with his height he will get more bounce.
sensible-indian Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 How the hell does he impart that much force on the ball through the middle finger? Must really exercise it a lot. A few of my close friends know Ashwin personally (I don't - just met him once). They tell me that Ashwin has big palms and some seriously long fingers which is why he is able to bowl those carrom balls. I don't know how Mendis does it but that's what I was told about Ashwin.
sensible-indian Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Doosra >>>> Carrom Ball when it comes to effectiveness Too bad no one can currently bowl it with a legal action.
panther Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Still waiting for the day South India will produce fast bowlers not sissy spinners.
