Varun Aaron watch: Durham vs Northants

Chris Rushworth took three Northamptonshire wickets before lunch but it could easily have been more. When Rushworth trapped James Kettleborough lbw with a ball which kept low, it gave the scoreboard a more realistic look at 48-3. Rushworth needs four more wickets in the match for 50 in this season's County Championship. Stand-in captain James Middlebrook was the man to go, well caught by Scott Borthwick, diving across first slip Paul Collingwood to take the catch. The all-rounder made 23. He could have been run out for eight, but when Ben Stokes threw the ball in from behind gully, Mark Stoneman fumbled it over the stumps as Middlebrook was sent back by partner James Kettleborough. Bowling from the Finchale End, Varun Aaron made good use of the overcast conditions to swing the ball around well without reward. A couple of beautiful deliveries were far too good for Northamptonshire's right-handers but an edge from Kettleborough on ten died on Collingwood at slip and although it looked as though the ball may have just carried, the chance was not held. Varun was unlucky. Should have had a wicket. Was listening live and the commies were praising him on his intensity. Whats good to see if that Varun is not compromising on his pace. There are issues with consistency but the ingredients are there.

He looked threatening and this will do him good. Just needs to be managed. Can afford to skip series, work on AUS tests and then some odis for world cup. So he should play county, play some WI ODIs, then a few AUS tests, then some AUS ODIs in the tri-series and be fit for world cup.

How good was aaron against warwickshire?stats suggest that he took 2 wickets for 81 runs after bowling 25 odd overs, which seems decent. But did he look threatening? particularly against trott? Has anyone followed that match? GB or any poster who followed that match pls comment
