chamatkar
cricinfo also has it mentioned in their preview. Tanvir is the likely sub for him. Likely Pak team - hameed, butt, Yo, Yo, Misbah, Malik, Akmal, Akhtar, Sami, Tanvir, Kaneria. Link to comment
coffee_rules
This will balance the team to India's favor (Gul not being there). The likely Indian team: WJ, KKD, RD, SRT, SCG, VVSL, MSD, AK, HS, ZK, MP/IS Link to comment

Ram
I know one guy who will be elated to hear this - Sachin Tendulkar. Gul's late movement and bounce have always troubled Sachin. Sachin wont have that much trouble negotiating the extra pace of Akhtar , as much as he would have facing the bounce of Gul. Sachin must be breathing a sigh of relief i tell ya. Gul bowling to him with 3 slips and a gully is just a wicket waiting to happen. Link to comment

Also lets hope our boring openers eat up the new ball spell by aktar and co. Link to comment

Bumper
This is real bad news for Pakistan. Akhtar wont last more than half a test match, if he is the lone striker. AAG attack to AG attack to A attack to a possible heart attack for Pakistan. Link to comment

Kaneria will snare him twice, Akthar atleast thrice. He began his career with a series against Pak and he's going to end it against the same opposition. Link to comment

Dont get swayed by ODI form, his Test form is still a far cry from his best. Lets see. Link to comment
jim-jams
an unfit gul is a huge set back for pakistan, despite his lacklustre performance against south africa it'll also mean sami is likely to start, unless the team management is dumb enough to play rehman and tanvir together Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
It all depends on openers if they can get upto 70 80 odd then dravid tendulkar everyone will come into his own......Chukhtar needs to be demoralized upfront ala sehwag Link to comment
