Sachin=GOD
Manjhi, BJP talk to take on common foe Nitish http://m.hindustantimes.com/india-news/manjhi-bjp-talk-to-take-on-common-foe-nitish/article1-1335603.aspx Honestly speaking, Manjhi is a loose cannon so BJP should tread carefully while dealing with him. G_B_
the problem with everybody taking on Nitish is that it becomes a personality centric battle. Like it or not Nitish is a known face in Bihar politics for close to 2 decades. Have people learned nothing from all the attacks on Modi and Kejriwal? The BJP probably cannot tell Manjhi what to do. But i hope they run a positive development oriented model. Let the Janata pariwar attack Modi and make it about Sushil and Narendra Modi. Make the narrative about the BJP Modis and development. Sure behind the scenes do the caste arithmetic as well. But there is no point going down a Nitish sluggfest.
G_B_
btw interesting to note that Manjhi faction and those opposed to the merger are claiming that if Jd(u) merges with the RJD, they would be the natural claimants of the Jd(u) party name and symbol. I dont know if it is legally possible or not. You could have RJD (pappu yadav) and Jd(u) (manjhi) fighting it out in alliance against the Samajwadi Janata Party (the new name) and the BJP
Sachin=GOD
The more the number of smaller parties, the better for the BJP as Nitish's vote will be cut. BJP should just sit back and indirectly encourage all these rebels right now instead of making controversial statements every now and then. Sachin=GOD
Samajwadi Janata Dal will probably be the name and Cycle the symbol. Here's something I was thinking - when this merger goes through, there will not be parties with the name of JDU/RJD/SP, right? And in case of jdu/RJD, they will not even have their symbols (since symbol of Janata Parivar will be cycle) so when this Janata Parivar breaks, as it surely will - its only a matter of when that happens - a few months or years, then by that time some other opportunistic parties would have taken their names and symbols - that would be a HUGE problem for RJD/JDU. Also, I would think that the recognition of the Cycle election symbol would be much less than that of symbols of RJD/JDU in Bihar so Janata Parivar may have some problems with also. Now the smart thing for the BJP would be to encourage some small rebels from RJD/JDU to apply for the name and symbol of these parties - that will confuse the voters. Sachin=GOD
Announced. I'm sure that soon enough they will realize that it would have been far better to get into a coalition from which it would be easy to get out of in case of disagreements rather than merging and losing their individual identities to some extent. G_B_
Here’s how the Janata Parivar merger could push ruling Congress in Kerala into a dilemma The decision of six parties of Janata Parivar to merge into a new party would set off a churning in Kerala politics. Kerala has JD-S as a partner of the CPI (M)-led Opposition front, while JD-U state faction is an ally of Congress-led ruling front. If Kerala factions of the Janata Dal are forced to go by the decision of the national leadership of the new party to remain together in the state also, either JD-S has to quit the LDF or JD-U has to come out of the UDF. It was in last December that Socialist Janata Democratic (SJD), a splinter group of the JD-S in Kerala, had merged with the JD-U, led by Sharad Yadav. The SJD, which merged with JD-U, was formed in 2010 after renaming a breakaway faction of the JD(S) led by M P Veerendrakumar. The JD (S) faction of Veerendrakumar had quit the LDF in 2009 after the CPI (M) denied its sitting LS seat. http://indianexpress.com/article/india/politics/janata-parivar-merger-might-set-off-churning-in-kerala-politics/2/
G_B_
how odd would it be, the merger of primarily north indian parties causes the downfall of a congress government in south india.
G_B_
there are rumours that CPM led left front is planning for an alliance with Samajwadi Janata Dal all over India.... Rumours doing the rounds that CPM will offer the Janata Dal space in Kerela but would want some space in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The congress might be replaces in the Laloo and Nitish coalition by the Left Front who rumour has it would be content with 20 seats out of 243. Sachin=GOD
Well, I'll say this - if the Janata Parivar can manage the egos of its eccentric leaders then it will be a very powerful opponent in Bihar.
coffee_rules
Janata Dal-United president Sharad Yadav played a key role in persuading leaders of six former Janata Dal parties to merge into a single entity. The new party will have Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as its chairman but is yet to announce its name and election symbol. Yadav tells Archis Mohan that reports about disquiet among the factions are ‘sponsored’. http://www.rediff.com/news/interview/therell-be-attempts-to-break-us-because-of-the-danger-we-pose/20150420.htm  What a letdown Nitish has been. First appointing Manjhi and then shamelessly coming back to become CM. Why would anyone want to break them? They are very much capable of doing it themselves. dial_100
I had lot more regard for Nitish. I really don't understand this. How could he join congress, Laloo and Mulayam? One state which could have progressed lot under BJP/JDU has ended up in a mess. I thought Nitish could help alliance win UP as well. Anyways, let see what happens next. I expect that these fools be totally routed out of Indian politics once and for all.

Khalpat
I read this funny wattsapp message

G_B_
seems manjhi rally while not a flop was not a hit either , at max will get 5% of the vote. Thats being generous. Pappy yadav meanwhile is edging closer to the rjd door and looks a good bet to joing manjhi http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/rjd-serves-showcause-notice-on-pappu-yadav/article7136142.ece
