The Outsider
Not immediately, if that is the question. Karthik has done enough to warrant a run for this Test series but Sehwag must tour with the squad to Australia irrespective. Link to comment
Online
look, KKD is India's highest test scorer in 2007 - so it is harsh to drop him but sehwag is a match winner - give Sehwag a chance in the next 2 tests and take the decision after that Link to comment
zubinpepsi
Shewag is not in the form.... and its absurd to think tht he ll do wonders based on his 2004 exploits.. Link to comment
Sachinism
its difficult to give sehwag a chance, he hasnt proved himself at all lately Link to comment

gs
Sehwag was in good test form and sucked in ODIs. Dropping him from tests based on his ODIs form was one of the most retarded decision ever by Dungsucker. We lost an opener who averages almost 50 to the wilderness!!! Players with proven class like Sehwag dont lose it overnight - its just a confidence thing. Didnt dada suck for a while before being reinstated? He didnt do sh.t in county/firstclass cricket either to warrant a recall. But look how he has performed since then in both ODIs (low strike rate not withstanding!) and tests!! Openers are a rare breed and need to be handled with care. We went through a rough phase after Sunil Gavaskar hung up his boots. Prabhakar and Sidhu did a fair job but no one did the job as well as Sehwag did. He smashed the vaunted Pak and Aussie attacks to bits in their own backyards - guys, man's got ability and skills! KKD has had a good run so far but I dont think he is opener material. Bring back Sehwag!! Link to comment
apocalypse
sehwag would be a gifted wicket in his current form Link to comment
Predator_05
Sehwag shouldn't come within 10 feet of an Indian jersey until he starts scoring some runs and earns his way back ON MERIT and not on reputation Link to comment

King
No chance for Sehwag, he just doesn't want to do the hard work but wants to rely on past performances to win a spot. Karthik is a fighter and I trust him to score runs consistently. Sehwag can sulk scoring 20s in domestic cricket. I cannot comprehend how he can be slotted in after having watched his disdain attitude with batting since the Bangladesh series after world cup. Even Rahul Dravid gave up on him finally. BTW Sehwag's just scored 16 runs off 2 innings against Mumbai. Dooks
No way. Useless unless his attitude changes. Can't live on past glory alone. Didn't we keep complaining of the same thing about some one in the past! Link to comment

When was the last time he did that ? I'll save you the search. It was 31 Tests ago. April 2004. Before that ? October 2002 - 5 years ago. So, arguably, he's played a significant innings in 2 Test wins in his career of 52 Tests and 87 innings, beginning in 2001. Link to comment

If one cant score runs in ODIs where the pitch and rules are all in favor of batsman then how can you expect the very same batsman to score runs in test cricket. If past record is all that counts then lets bring back Gavaskar as opener. Link to comment

The way he has bene doing ti all along he never was prolific scorer in one day but has been so in test.. go figure how why that happened, bootmline is that happened Link to comment
