Serious lack of legit pacers in domestic cricket

We need more hard bouncy tracks with light grass like Wankhede has been recently than soft green mambas.
Even Wankhede has been flat in domestic whenever I watched. Not much help for pacers

I think fast bowlers are made well before they ever bowl a ball at a Wankhade or any other first class ground. It's the galis, streets, neighborhood park etc where fast ballers emerge. I do think it comes down to body strength and agility. Even if India is producing a higher number of physically strong young generation kids than before, agility is still a big issue. Few Indians have any agility in any part of their body except the wrist. And trying to bowl at speeds in excess of what your strength/agility allows just results in injuries.

A Flexible or agile body is one of the most important factors contributing to bowling fast along with possessing fast twitch muscles. I think we have enough Indian lads who are flexible. If the " fast bowling culture " continues to develop like it is doing now... we will have more fast bowlers.

Flat pitches didn't stop umesh and varun Aaron from bowling quick. You are either born with pace or not. Bowlers attitude also matters. You can just bowl 125-130k and play for your domestic team for many years and get satisfied with your life or you can strive for pace and get noticed by the media and the selectors. Look at Aaron, he had so many stress fractures but still he wants to bowl quick without fearing of getting injured.

Look at Aaron' date=' he had so many stress fractures but still he wants to bowl quick without fearing of getting injured.[/quote'] Flat pitches can discourage and break the spirit of fast bowlers, because they don't get proper reward for their efforts. It is also easy to get injured bowling fast on non-juicy wickets. If you want your fast bowlers to maintain high performance for 10 years at the international level, give them wickets with good balance between bat and the ball. Umesh and Aaron will not last five years (they are already injured most of the time) if you keep playing them on phattas. It is not without good reason that India has had only three pacers who managed to play 50 tests in their career. Flat wickets kill bowlers and we never learnt a thing from history.

Because they want to bowl fast, they have fast bowling heroes who inspired the next generation to bowl fast on flat pitches day in day out. The attitude of a fast bowler has to be beating the batsmen in the air by bowling quick even if the pitch doesn't help you. Listen to the likes of Shoaib akthar who talks about beating the batsmen in the air with their pace. Junaid khan and irfan were effective on Indian pitches when they toured India because they had pace with swing. Geniune Fast bowlers can use the new ball and get wickets and when the ball is old, they can reverse it with pace. Reverse swing is effective only with pace. Its all about your attitude and how you look at fast bowling.

You don't need too much help, just bit of pace and bounce. Too much help encourages slow trundlers. It had enough help in Drodhar trophy with the new ball. In every match, teams had lost early wickets.

Mohali used to have that but now even that is flat

no bounce encourages bowler to bend back our bowlers need to learn on these type of tracks not just bowling tracks most tracks in australia are like this and we have seen how we struggled and only perth has serious bounce or pace otherwise those tracks are good for batting and many indian batsmen enjoyed batting there . they should have occasional green track too but i do not think making this type of perfect pitch is even possible in indian climate

It is important to have sporting pitches which help batters, pacers as well as spinners .... but only when they put in that extra effort. Pacers gently floating the ball.... spinners not putting revs on the ball .... batsmen who cannot fight it out .... should not get success.

yep ...making perfect pitch is difficult but atleast support one of spinners or quick bowlers i like mohali pitch it slowed down a but but remember australian test match where behave got 3 wickets in inning and later on spinners came in game but good batsman who were patient got runs ...

Aussie pitches have more pace and bounce than India.Don't think we can replicate that here. Here we only get bounce but that means its true wicket and ball comes on.I have seen FC matches in Mumbai and batting looks very easy there. Aussie tracks encourage movement too if bowler is skilled enough.Indian pitches hardly do,even that is slow

i have not seen many aussie tracks which encourage movement other than new zealand test series few years ago their domestic cricket does support it but many people blamed it for destroying batting talent so it goes both ways :cantstop: most Aussie tracks are true wickets where you can score at 4 rpo yes there is little bit more bounce but only those bowlers who put in effort get something out like broad did for england but no one else was good enough i think india should prepare tracks which do help bowlers if they put in effort at same time be good for batting if they do not make mistake and play with good technique i think mohali is very close to that from score card it looked like it supported quicker bowlers but also batsmen who were patient got runs but cannot be 100 percent sure as most f matches were not shown on tv

Mohali is a big favourite of mine. Wankhere has been good last few years. It is true that it is very difficult to produce the perfect pitch. But that can be the target. Dustbowls or extreme greentops are not good.

btw sorry for typo i meant bhuvi got 3 wickets ...but i think u understood and yes its my favourite pitch too and we always get good test matches ... and even i do not want bowling wickets we need good cricketing wickets and that will get rid us form bowlers who just float the ball at 120 k ....

In Indian junior cricket circles (maybe even in club cricket etc), coaches frequently encourage promising quicks to cut down on pace and focus on line length. Instead, these coaches should be working with those bowlers to bowl line length while maintaining that high speed.
