Umesh would not have been too different. You need discipline on such a pitch that Ishant showed. BK would have been better than Shami. You need consistency even with pace.

BK was injured so he wasn't even a possibility for this test. He would have definitely been an improvement. Umesh would have been better than Shami if for nothing else other than his pace. Shami has been medium and mediocre. Varun Aaron has yet to earn his spot in any Indian team imo. He doesn't offer much other than pace.

If we bowl out Aus around 400, that is actually quite a decent performance. This is a flat pitch and the late burst has evened it out.

6-8 meter is pretty good. That is the corridor of uncertainty. You dont need to bowl too full like England here, more around 7 meter area.

It was a good innings from warner but apart from that both of their 2nd spells were much better if india can get them for 400 it is a very good job.

ishant is the only established bowler..he will have to take the full load of wickets.. shami and aaron have some waytogo before they can be reliable.. I thought umesh could have been tried here with his previous experience. too much to expect of karan..
