This must be the best performance by an off spinner in Aus. Even Murli never did anything. Indians dug their own grave by bowling round the stumps and created huge rough for Lyon to exploit. They bowled 130 balls round the stumps to Warner alone in 1st innings.

Worst part was that Lyon himself pointed out that Big Ishant has helped him by bowling round the wicket but you still bowl from Round the wicket in the 2nd innings. Just ridiculously brainless bowlers.

My team for next test: Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Saha Ashwin Shami Ishant Aaron Umesh I feel as always we were one bowler light this match. Aaron and Umesh should be given a license to go for it with short and aggressive spells. Aaron looked dangerous second innings. Ashwin to play as a batsmen/all rounder.

Best possible team IMO.

It's just that our spinner did not bowl even half well like Lyon and ended up with less than half the wickets Lyon got.

Our main spinner was a leg spinner and there wasnt much turn for him from the stumps and expecting a debutant to take 5-10 wickets and win you the match is a bit too much that too away from home.

Exactly. Ashwin in team means one less bowler who can pick wicket. He struggles to pick wicket anywhere. Just because Lyon did good...we assume Ashwin will too. He can only play as 5th bowler if we select one

Why do something which didn't work in 1st innings at all? Also what are the support staff for ? Isn't it their responsibility to point out the mistakes their players are doing ? The commies in TV were all saying it was a wrong move which it was. It's not like play as par the opposition's instruction ..

All excuses to defend poor bowling. I will applaud him when he bowls well, but would say he bowled below par in this test. Not saying that Ashwin or Jaddu will bowl better, but just saying that karn bowled crap as well.

Ashwin is useless as a spinner while bowling outside the subcontinent. He is no better and no worse than the other 2 spinners. But I want him in the team because he is a good batsman overseas. Gives you confidence and plays with a straight bat.

I know Leg spin is a tough art, but still you should know how to bowl good line and length in Intl. cricket.

Then how come he picked 3 wickets in the last Test innings in England? Spinners mature. Ashwin has the best chance in the Indian team to mature. If someone significantly better comes, then its ok to ditch him.
