We need a better batsman at no.3 which is a key batting position. What you guys think is the reason for this elongated poor form? I would not mind pushing Pujara to 5 and Rahane to no. 3 Thoughts?
tweaker Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Pujara is specialist test batsman who is known to score big runs.If he is failing in overseas conditions then there is certainly some problems in his technique.

He is stuck in his crease and struggling against Lyon, playing with an open face to often vs seamers and weak against inseam or inswing. He is no where near as good in defense as Dravid atm. He is still the best among domestic Ranji players but it is time he showed something, has 4 more innings to do so.

All these contributed to his low numbers but ask yourself if there is any better batsman than Pujara in our Indian domestic cricket? I don't think there is one. Pujara is one of the best actually all over the world. Indian bats have been unlucky that they have had 4 tough away tours all together in the same year - Nz, saf, aus and eng. Something which does not happen to any team. It was a rare year in international cricket for us this. Give our bats some time.

Let's not read too much into averages :poink: Murali Vijay didn't have a 50 in his first 4 tests, 5 ODI's and like 7 T20's overseas. Then u know what happened... But it's his technique, he tuk tuks but atm is struggling to defend well enough to not eventually get out. He is stuck on his crease and being dominated by Lyon. Had 1 bad decision rest were fair dismissals. I still think he will come good eventually. But is any of these Indian batsmen gonna become a 50+ avg great I dunno :nervous:
MK55 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Also Im not so sure of his technique against the short ball. He has this tendency of playing the rising ball with the straight bat. That puts him in an awkward position when the ball gets high.

kosingh Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 The thing is even when he gets his 40-50 it's become such a struggle. He's fighting for every god damn run and looks neither destructive nor solid. Hopefully he gets that big score because in the past he showed a lot of fluency.
Marut Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 All evidence pointing to an FTB. I would be glad to be proven wrong next year. His technique does not appear good enough against the short ball unllike Kohli, Vijay and Rahane. 2015 will be make or break for Chepu.
