Malcolm Merlyn Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So the idiotic and irritating Sanjay Manjrekar was talking about how Shami/Yadav/Aaron have been failures and how we should replace them by the likes of Vinay Kumar and how Indian mentality is good at bowling medium pace and we should stick to it and not get excited and select 140k bowler but stick to 130k medium pacers. Even when Damien Martyn objected and said that you need atleast one 140k plus bowler in test cricket to push the batsman on the backfoot,he replied"We dont have140k bowler". Then they went to Dada and he immediately said that he doesnt agree with having trundlers and the accuracy and line and length can be taught by guidance and India needed better guidance. He mentioned how Anil Kumble should guide Ashwin and other spinners and how Australian fast bowlers were guided by a fast bowler with 250 plus test wickets.And that the issues with Indian fast bowlers can be rectified easily with good guidance and how you cant discard bowlers who have talent and ability just like that.That shut up Manjrekar for good. Also Dada mentioned how Aussie bowlers are guided by someone who has 250 plus test wickets and hence has the skills to bowl at this level and can pass that on.So clearly he has little respect for the Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun.Infact somehow we have chosen players who havent done anything in test cricket as our last 3 bowling coaches.Those players were no proven international coaches either. May be get a good former test bowler as coach now. Shane Bond is available.May be look to get a West Indian

His average is almost same as Mitch, rhino and Hazlewood but his S/R is miles better than others S/R of pacers shami - 50.6 MJ - 56 hazlewood -65 Rhino - 68

All these no body coaches we have/had in recent rimes what experience of international cricket they have ?Zilch How on earth is Arun gone help our bowlers about bowling in Aus or SA when he himself have no experience More than any country we need a world class bowlers to coach our bowlers .They don't even have any legend fast bowlers to look for help either . Its not like BCCI has problems either. I would love someone like Ambrose or McGrath to be Indian bowling coach

Reverse swing, doosra etc. a bowling coach can't really teach basic skills like bowling line and length. Even school level coaches teach that. And if a bowler climbs the ladder without being able to bowl line and length, he's not going to learn it at the highest level. Brains can't be taught, either.

And don't get me started on Phuk.com fours, and suck.com sixes kind of sponsors. I know some here are not fans of commentary of dravid and Ganguly either. Channel 9 is better, even with the biased homers. I've turned tow shady websites streaming channel 9 coverage.

You already know how much net practice these guys do anyway. Until you do a lot of bowling in the nets, you cannot improve. They need methodical practice to attain that goal.

They need methodical practice to attain that goal.[/quote'] I remember a good article by Sunny Gavaskar earlier this year on India's optional practice sessions ,where he castigated our team's work ethics.That culture was ushered in during Kirsten's regime and players loved it and they still are following it.So what has Fletcher brought to this team except for extra mass. Situation looks grim ,would you agree that India needs a task master (if that approach is possible in indian cricket)?

Kirsten had some advise for Fletcher when he left.
