MCGGG Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I know this isn't exactly a unique topic, but I'm interested to hear the thoughts of Indians fans, over 1 billion people in a country that idolises cricket like no other and yet, they don't dominate the world like they should. Are factions at play? Quality junior coaching? Development of indentified prospects? Economics? To much pressure on those who do make it?
MCGGG Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 Genetics Nah, I don't think so, could be the climate though, who would want to be a fast bowler in 50 degree heat on dust bowls.
BeautifulGame Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 World cup champions CT champions Runners up in T20 world cup This is pretty decent return tbh
Old guy Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Genetics I am politely asking you to stop trolling on every topic To me biggest problem with Indian cricket which I know is 100 percent true is pitches which really hampers development of bowlers . It's eother too flat ,too green or rank turner all of them are not good imo Also bigger weakness is level before club cricket and how people are selected but I do not know much about this stuff and maybe others here know .l Also one more issue is bowl we use in domestic cricket because of which bowlers find ot tough when they tour .. Most of my problems are about cricketing but you can be sure there is lot of other problems at lower level and not all states might have same problem ..
Old guy Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 World cup champions CT champions Runners up in T20 world cup This is pretty decent return tbh You have to admit with our interest in cricket ,population and lack of other sports we should be dominating this game a lot more ..
MCGGG Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 In fairness, everyone struggles to beat India in India, damn, we're the Kings of cricket (IMO) and we've only done it once, and India were robbed in Australia back a few years ago. But still, I feel India should be doing better. Are Indian pitches-conditions to unique? (For test match cricket)

Skills needed to be good here are different But it's not like india during that time was bad from home they competed with Australia in Australia better than anyone else so it cannot be that .

I am not trolling, its so pretty simple.Multicultural populations like UK,Australia South Africa simply do better than the similar people of India,SL or Pakistan
G_B_ Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 the problem is that of the billion people there are probably 5% who play the game properly.... Its the same problem pakistan faces. Even states like Tamil Nadu. Outside Chennai i dont think there is infrastructure there.
BlueBee Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Yes, I agree with Sabby. The pitches are the real problem nowadays. Because of the green tracks, bowlers concentrates more on line and length rather than pace. We need flat pitches with bounce like in Australia.

Please do not post stuff just for sake of trolling

Which team do you have to job and how are peole scouted ? Truth is very very few people actually play cricket competitively compared to countries like England or Australia ..
G_B_ Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 well lets put it this way when mumbai are 40 time ranji champions despite having 1.5% of the population of the country you know infra must be really lacking in a big way. In Mumbai there is a pyramid structure which feeds into the ranji team. Even Delhi has the same structure. But outside these big cities and maybe Karnataka the infra is pretty much fecked.

Even so, Australia were a rabble back then, it was the end of our era, damn, England even beat us at home lol. (Something they will pay for, for a very, very long time)
vvvslaxman Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 After T20 indian cricket became highly batsmen centric. Pitches are also becoming flatter around the world. Bowlers grow up to a period and stagnates or regresses and eventually fades away. This is even more prevalent among pacers.

Please do not post stuff just for sake of trolling it does not work like that. We have 2 bowlers bowling as quick, Aus have 10. That is the difference. We producing bowlers bowling 90 mph as a rare occurrence. In Australia, it is not and look at Australia's population. Same in WI.
Old guy Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Fast bowling has a lot to do with genetics. I agree but how come we cannot even produce spinners of late ? And if not fast bowlers we should be able to produce more guys like zaheer and we have produced many quicks in last few years with little more emphasise on pace and few years ago people thought it was I possible and right now we have to guys who can hit 150 in our team ..

Truth is Australian bowlers are taught to bowl fast and that also plays huge part ..there was reason England did not produced many quicks ..
