Has the 4 test series prior to WC caused more harm than good?

By now I reckon most of us are getting desperate for a win. Even England that looked so out of sorts against Sri Lanka, a team that we white washed, has beaten us convincingly. I know the conditions are different but we are good enough to beat England in the ODI's. Even in the test series barring the final session of Adelaide test and the second day of Brisbane, we were never really in it. I'm starting to believe this tour is causing more harm than good to the team. Other teams like New Zealand, SA, Australia are finding form and we are yet skeptical of the players. Even West indies have won a T20 series recently It looks as if the bowlers are under severe pressure and under intense scrutiny after the poor performance in the test series and that is having an effect in the ODI's as well. Batsmen looked completely detached in today's game and I'm starting to feel fatigue has started to have an effect for the batsmen. I’m not against the test series but just the timing of it. Also to make matters worse, we are only playing 4 ODI matches excluding the final in the current series. A bilateral series of 5 matches with some T20s would have got us going for the WC campaign. Hope we win the next 2 matches to get us back on the right path.

Not really. Don't read too much into this loss. All the test matches were played on flat tracks. This odi match was played on bouncy track. Our batsmen will get used to it. Our performance will be better from the next match. Watch out.

I think Oz are gonna crash and burn soon ODI series in UAE, T20 series in UAE, Test series in UAE. Then home 5 match ODI series vs SA. Test match series in tough conditions. And this tri series Oz have have been plaing non stop since Sep-oct

Being away from home for 4-5 months can be really frustrating. With that you are playing under so much pressure that it tires you mentally. I may be the only one here to think like that but for once I feel for these guys. May be the management is also thinking of this series as lightweight practice and not putting the guys under pressure. Another thing is Under Dhoni we have peaked at the right time. Everyone wrote us off in 2011 world cup after group stage since we weren't really convincing. Long time to go, the real world cup starts from knock out stages so plenty of time before that.

To add to that, losing this series shouldn't be a confidence breaker for us because of the conditions. We're facing the world's best ODI team (although we boast a ranking just below that) and have just come off a dissappointing test series. By the world cup, we should be in good form hopefully. Our performance in this series shouldn't be too worrying (although I don't think we should lose against England anymore).

I remember us having a lackluster series before 2011 WC also... I like what Dhoni said about staying fresh.
No. We drew tests 1-1 in SA and lost ODIs 3-2. Performance overall wasnt bad in ODIs considering we had some players are missing.
