Hur Rizvi Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Historically bowling has always been our strong point going into the WC. but this time we have several big issues in the bowling Irfan: Good for 1st spell, after that he loses his steam and his cannon fodder at death Hafeez: banned Junaid: Injured Wahab, Sohail: Rubbish bowlers Ehsan Adil: un-proven Afridi: Not a good bowler in Aussie conditions Yasir shah: un-proven Bhatti: Spray gun This has got to be the weakest Pakistan bowling attack going into the WC quite on par with our bunch in 2007

What would you say about a bowling attack who conceded 208 runs in 29 overs against club cricketers??

Well, I don't think Junaid is going to be as great a miss as it is been made out, he has been quite average for some time now. Like today's game I don't think you will play just 4 bowlers(3 bowlers + Afridi). Your strength is bowling and most probably Misbah will play 5 bowlers(4 bowlers + Afridi), in that case it will leave Afridi coming in at 4 down and the batting will be your weaker point again.

If Hafeez gets cleared and Junaid gets fit our bowling will be fine if not we are in for a disaster even if we play 6 bowlers Junaid has very decent ODI stats and is comfortably better than wahab, ehsan and sohail, he will be missed specilly in death overs We will most likely to go with 3 bowlers+Afrdi+shehad+YK+Sohail as bowlers atleast for first few matches of WC like we did in last series against NZ
Shivaji bhonsle Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I don't think Pakistan 's bowling is bad. On bouncy tracks Irfan is a big asset. Agreed, their spin bowling has been hampered by the bans on Ajmal and Hafeez but they do have a powerful fast bowling attack. They historically have a stronger bowling attack and I believe once Junaid comes back, they will have a powerful bowling attack. 3 or 4 bowlers bowling at the pace of 90mph isn't going to be a weaker one. Indian batsmen have to be very careful against them if they want to put it big score on the board. I'm not sure Dhawan is the right man to it. Its gonna be a tough match against Pakistan.

This time no such fear for opposition. Considering the fielding standard of Pakistan it is even more difficult for them. Mo Irfan might enjoy the bounce of OZ pitches.
Gollum Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Irfan if fully fit and bowling at his best will be DEVASTATING and there is no batsman in the world who will be comfortable facing this giant in those pitchs. Junaid is also skilful and if he is able to get his swing will be a handful. Wahab is either going to get a handful of wickets or go at 10 RPO, very unreliable. Afridi is an under rated spinner, Yasir Shah looked good at first glance and will trouble non SC teams. Harris Sohail isn't bad with the ball either. If Hafeez action gets cleared big positive for Pakistan. Bowling looks okish to me. Batting for them will be a headache esp with the tuk tuk brigade from Shehzad to Misbah. Too many dot balls, over reliance on sloggers like Afridi, ,Riaz will be their downfall. Only Harris Sohail and the wicketkeeper look like they can score at run a ball consistently, a pre requisite in modern day ODI cricket. My take is as always batting will be Pakistan's headache this edition esp in those pitches which are total opposite of the ones they play on in Middle East.
