G_B_ Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Hillary can only be defeated by a young and fresh face in the GOP...someone like marco rubio or .christie ..If it is older guys nominated by GOP like bush or huckabee ' date= then she would nail them.. That guy is not a fresh young face. Its interesting how the major contenders for the GOP Christie and Jeb Bush both are Catholics. I am not 100% sure the evangelicals baptists etc are on board with them. Got the same feeling with Romney. Sure they backed him. But there was no zeal which you saw with GW Bush. I personally think Jeb Bush will get the nomination. He has the machinery of his father and brother and comes from a critical state of Florida. I also feel that Rick Perry will be a one to watch out for. Yes he blundered badly. But i am sure that he will be more clinical this time around. Perry can tap that evangelical vote which Christie and Bush cannot. It depends if he can remain in the race if long enough till the bible belt comes into play. @S=G 2 years is a long time. Who would have seen Obama coming out of no where to defeat Hillary? in the primaries for 2008. By the time the financial crisis happened the presidential election was a gimme. I agree with the sentiments of jalebi bhai. Hillary has gone out of her way if reports are believed to target Modi. She has a vested interest in backing Sonia Gandhi. Not good from an Indian POV considering the current gov is BJP.

Elections in America are just more or less about choosing the side that will least blast your ass at a given time. Lobbying is so exceedingly rampant and both sides are equally horrible at pandering to their benefactors. It is really such a pessimistic affair.

Christi's isn't a serious contender IMO. He will make way too many gaffes and will be relentlessly attacked in the primaries.

Democrats have to just make sure that it is messaged well to the sane voters. The right wing evangelists and conservative nutters will vote GOP no matter who gets the ticket.

I couldn't believe when I heard (educated) GOP supporters told me that they couldn't vote for him cuz of his faith. Funny thing is that these guys were largely aethiest, live in California and dislike Jeb as well since they don't want another bush but they'll still vote for him because at least he is not a Mormon.

Economic and geopolitical interests will drive the relationship - so until then sit back and enjoy the nautanki of US elections.

He has to change, if he were to continue with his original ideas and views then not many republicans will vote for him. Thats the problem Republicans have, they go so towards the right to win nomination that they cant move to centre right for national election.
