express bowling Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Performance after grp stage These stats clearly show that Jadeja has been the weakest bowler. He can be a liability in NZ where the boundaries are small. Add to that his weak batting. Binny would have been better in NZ.

youngindia Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Binny would have been better in NZ. binny averages a clear 13 less than jadeja in ranji despite being the senior player and barely more than ashwin. he does not have the standard to contribute in internationals.he was looking like a club player when he played in the warm match vs Australian seamers.

Ranji is a 4 / 5 day tournament played in India. Does not reflect a player's ODI ability outside the subcontinent. Binny is not the ideal choice but our choice is limited to the selected players. Jadeja has looked a very poor ODI batsman. Someone batting at 7 cannot be this poor.

Jadeja averages just 21 after 12 tests. Highest of just 68. Binny averages 22 albeit in just 3 tests. His innings of 78 in a test in England was quite good. He played the quicks well and with a straight bat. I have never seen Jadeja bat like this in a test match. Binny is a late bloomer. Jadeja's ODI average of 32 from 79 innings is due to 26 not outs due to coming in very late almost always. He looks a very unconvincing batsman at international level .

There have been hundreds of hacks over the years who have had good Ranji averages. Ranji trophy is a poor domestic competition with severe flaws, too many teams of low quality and with very few sporting pitches. Our domestic competitions require major overhauls if domestic stats are to carry more meaning.
