Forever Indian Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Except the 2007 WC where we were over-confident, India always gets it's A game in WCs. We used to get kicked out of triseries without even reaching finals, but still competed really hard at the World stage.
youngindia Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 is this a premier sporting achievement? nothing to crow about the south Asian region remains one of the poorest in sports. a real achievement would be to compete strongly against stronger teams which is not going to happen if the supply of bowlers is average and guys like vinay kumar find a place

sweetaskandy Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 The reasons for India's WC dominance over Pakistan are: (1) India handle pressure much better than Pak and other sides. Only Aus handle it better. (2) India's batting is generally much better. (3) Pak's batting is bad anyway (usually) and whilst chasing v India in a WC they totally crumble (I think Pak have chased in each game bar 1, I think I read). (4) India tends to have a better strategy. They seem to be the main reasons. Outside of WCs where Pak have a winning record head to head overall, obviously the pressure is much less. Reason 1 is 75% of it. Also since 2000 onwards generally India have been a better team. So better mental strength (really admire Indian cricket for this), better strategy and Pak's chokeness/freezing.

Since 2000 you have been better than them. WC's you win for reasons explained above. I'd imagine in Sharjah conditions their weak batting was less exposed and their better bowling was more effective. Jinx is BS. Grown men should not talk about 'jinx'.

sweetaskandy Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 After I explained with 4 points why India beats Pak each WC and then said Pak were better pre 2000 overall hence a bettr H2H record in sum - you asked me again why Pak lost to India if they were better pre 2000 in WCs. I had already explained India's mental strength explains 75% of WC success v Pak.

Had they batted 5 times like India, they'd have clobbered India. The only time they defended target, Sachin had a life courtesy Razzaq.. :beee::beee:
