Sharjeel had been scoring in 20s and getting soft dismissals because he relies on timing and hand eye co ordination. Dont tell me that sehwag wasnt a hand eye co ordination player. Im not comparing him but just elaborating that he has same sort of approach and method of play. Sharjeel's first fifty had glorious timings against Malinga. Pakistan in general however are poor at nourishing batsmen.

But the only 'good' big score was the ABDV slaughter-fest. The rest, meh. Was so happy when Warner got out as having Australia's best score against Afghanistan would be embarasing!

SELVAM Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Cant blame pitches alone. Not enough quality bowlers in this tournament to challenge the batsmen. We need waqar younis type bowlers to challenge batsmen in this condition. Only Mitchell starc is having some of those skills. Leading bowlers like steyn,Anderson,Johnson r way off colour in this format.
Autonomous Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Rahat Ali so far has been quality seamer, Lakmal bowled pretty well i guess in a match. Kiwi and Aussie bowlers are on top and Indians been pretty good too
kruiser Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 There is o buzz nor any excitement of a world cup.. the schedule is the worst ever for a world cup. i watched more of the test matches than i am following the ODis even with India involved.. Know that this is a formality before the Champions trophy begins with the QFs. truly, no difference between this WC and the Champions trophy except the boring long duration.

There is a lack of good bowlers too, so obviously batsman will be advantaged. Next time an Aussie utter the word "Indian Roads"...I will give him a mouthful These are prepared by the ICC regulations...
govinda Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Blame the rule changes, 2 new balls helps massively with late innings hitting, 2 men outside the circle, tree trunks as bats, roped off grounds, most ODI players are skilled in the art of T20 now days too. Like it or not ODI pitches are meant to be flat, but I think the major issue with these drop in pitches is they are tending to slow up during the second innings, hopefully they can get them right come finals. they should ban this 4 felder rule this as killed seamers getting revese swing and spiners diping old ball

The number of shots and the kind of shots played by players like AB, Maxwell, Warner etc were never seen in any earlier WC. The last twenty overs are full of unorthodox batting like never before. Batsmen like Warner play at a S/R of 80 even in test cricket and do you think he will do any tuk tuk in an ODI match? The stars of the previous WC like Tendulkar were capable of playing at a S/R of 130-140 at best. But the recent batting stars have taken this to a whole new level by striking consistently at 200+. Some rule changes and pitches have helped, but this is unbelievable hitting.

aceofbase Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Its stupid to blame the pitches..the difference in quality between teams is the main reason. ..WACA pitch has remained fast as ever and bouncy as ever ...In matches between evenly matched teams the scores have been pretty normal..
aceofbase Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 In 2007 wc , india scored 400 as well over a minnow team...In thic WC also only against minnow teams 400 is being scored. .even the game between SA and WI, the scoring was at 6 rpo but in last few overs ABDV scored against some atrocious bowling ..i believe last 2 overs went for over 60 runs. .
BlueBee Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 These pitches are a disgrace. Basically the team batting first here piles up runs and the one chasing finds it difficult to even score 200. At least make a pitch where both teams have an equal chance of winning.
