Rohit Sharma is a dud.

If we have to be strong and become champions again, we have to be ruthless. Drop Rohit for next 2 games and open with Binny and Dhawan. See how it goes. It will also give another swing bowling option if one of bowlers have an off day or go for runs. Remember 2007 T20 final. Yusuf Pathan opened and shifted the momentum of the game with his quick knock.

Don't think we have a lot of options. Rohit isn't great but it is not as if we have a Sachin or Sehwag waiting to replace him.
samson was highest run getter on A tour to australia. heck even naman ojha could have been tried.

Samson for Rohit? No. Rohit has such an impressive recent record that he is an automatic choice. If he fails repeatedly then alternatives may be explored. Not too many openers from India could have hit that 139 versus Australia. Rohit has immense potential - just that he is not converting those opportunities yet. He has a penchant for cracking daddy hundreds and it is too early to write him off.

Problem is sometimes he makes me so angry, I want to KILL him. What should I do? :nervous:

We have to remember that this is all said and done a mediocre team. There are no competent replacements for Rohit Sharma. We don't have a Rahat Ali or a Sarfraz Ahmed who can come out of nowhere and excel. The real Indian team is the one that has been piling losses upon losses in England and Australia over the past several months. The past 2 weeks is an anomaly.

You are pathetic. Try to understand the point being made, instead of reacting like a child.

Just because Sarfraz ahmed made a 49 and Rahat picked 3 wickets they are world beaters. What a joke. Pakistans last 2 wins were anomalies.Stop trolling.

Well, we will just have to see. Ali and Ahmed may hardly be wold beaters but that's not really the point is it? Younis Khan faile, so they tried Jamshed. He also failed, so they got Khan back but fixed another wicket keeper problem with Sarfraz Ahmed. And finally the substitutions worked, at least for this one match. We can't say that for Sharma's replacement, can we? Because we haven't tried one yet. Anyway I am not saying anything different from what others have said already. His only logical replacement namely Rayudu hardly inspires confidence.

The solution might be to open with Rahane and Dhawan but i back Rohit to come good on those flat decks of the MCG etc.

Defending champs and current World no 2 ODI side is mediocre but a team made up of rahat ali, sarfraz and afridi is contender for WC ? I am tired of ppl talk about tri series and compare our WC performance against it. During tri series we had Binny opening bowling and axar bowling his quota, if people are so dumb that they cant understand Dhoni didnt want to show his bowling hand then please continue calling Pak WC fav and demanding test status for Afg.

Are you prasadkhan by any chance? All your posts are negative and conspiracy theories about India?

From the cricinfo, the first paragraph of Rohit sharmas Profile. "Rohit Sharma oozes batting talent: malleable wrists, knack to find the gaps, and the extra half a second when he plays his shots. However, for a player of his class, the first six years of his international career were frustrating for him, the team, and the spectators, as the odd delightful innings was followed and preceded by plenty of failures. It all came together finally in 2013, when Rohit was promoted to open the innings in ODIs. The move turned out to be a masterstroke, as Rohit found form in the Champions Trophy, and then went into overdrive in the ODI series against Australia, scoring two centuries, including 209, only the third double in ODI cricket. That led to a place in the Test team, and Rohit responded by scoring centuries in his first two Test innings, becoming the fifth batsman to do so. A year later, he became the first batsman to hit two ODI double-hundreds, in an innings where he smashed the record for the highest score with 264 off 173 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens". :hysterical: :hysterical: Good comedy time.

Too early to write him off. Even a broken clock is right two times a day. I believe that Rohit will win us a match or two. Just needs a bit of luck. It is not like he is out of form or confidence. Would be poetic justice if he gets a big daddy hundred against the Aussies in the SF
