Number Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 It has become a win the toss and win the game tournament and we are a team whose strength has been chasing under the lights in the last 4 years. Afaik all our top 4 batsmen have 100 while chasing in D/N games. At the MCG it is really difficult I think. SCG is a bit of SC type of wicket. We won while chasing 250 there in 2008 CB series. (Arsol played a good knock :winky:) We are not winning 3 tosses in a row for sure so need Dhoni and Virat to massively step up on the days we are chasing.

We are good chasers generally so we should be able to chase 270-280 but anything more than that, it will be tough. Sometimes these drop in pitches seem to be slowing down in the second innings and shot making seems to be difficult. Perhaps this will be an advantage because if we bat first, we can put up a total and defend and if we have to chase, we can do that too.

MCGGG Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Forget the pitch guys, batting second could be an advantage in the coming weeks because of dew, cricket isn't normally played here during March-April, dew normally sets in around 9.00pm this time of year, with some being heavier than others obvioisly, so batting second could actually be an advantage in the coming weeks because as you all know, wet balls don't swing.

Faulkner can be handy on his day. ^ Aus bat deep so they don't need match winning knocks from their bats .Solid contributions from few of their bats will get them close and just need Faulkner /Haddin/Johnson to have a good slog

They will rely on Maxwell and Faulkner. However when the ball is seaming under lights, I don't think Warner and Finch are going to get the runs for Aus. Smith will be the key wicket.

Chasing has been our strength in SC, not overseas.

Gollum Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 We have chased so much in recent years that we have mastered the art. Kohli,Dhoni are beasts while chasing. This is where India/Aus/NZ are better than others, all 3 know the art of chasing. 1 of these 3 teams is lifting the WC.
Number Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I think we tied chasing 314 in NZ in 2014. Anyway for SCG, the way SL batted yesterday has given me a lot of hope. It might not be that difficult at MCG too. Good chasing sides haven't batted second under lights yet in this tournament.
profster Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 When you got a Kholi that thinks that 100 in the last 10 overs is nothing more than 10 runs per over and even more, just one boundary+4 singles+ a two an over; there is not much to be worried about on the mental aspect of chasing. Of course, the other team can produce a couple of pieces of magic that can kill the chase but that is not in our control anyways.
P.B. Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Why are y'all worrying? You're already through to the Semi Finals, and no don't think of this as a jinx but unless you're Pakistan, there is no way your team is losing to Bangladesh after thrashing Pak, WI and SAF.

So just 2 since 2006, one of them against ordinary SL attack. We have been good at chasing in SC. We haven't showed we can chase big scores overseas especially if we play Aus, SA, NZ. I dont see us chasing even 250 against these sides. We will do well if we bowl well like we have done so far. We can't afford a bad day in bowling. We
