FischerTal Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 OK. Alcohol plays a role - fine. Are you ONLY making an observation or are you trying to get at something? if you know that you have a low threshold for alcohol and are more prone to go totally out of control, you shouldn't be drinking beyond 2 pegs. its nothing more than an excuse as far as I'm concerned
riya Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Alcohol is a huge excuse..for certain men to abuse women.I was abused verbally by a man in the street, for apparently no reason,he was calling me all sorts of names,.And bypassers advised me to ignore him, that he is under the influence of alcohol.See how the guy got a free pass,u can abuse a random woman on the street under the influence of alcohol.Awww...baby sweet was under the influence, otherwise such a cute little angel.
Raghav_12 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 1_2gl7lz25E Some more food for thought. She is Deepika Bharadwaj, who is also the author of the article posted in OP. She is the same person who had exposed the Rohtak case where whole world had jumped on the bandwagon to laud those girls. She has been working on telling the other side of the story for quite long and but only recently has started getting the recognition which she deserves. It also helps that she herself is a woman, a man with similar kind of activism would have been run down by all and sundry as MCP, Misogynist and what not. This is her facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/deepika.bhardwaj?fref=ts Kudos..

Just because he is doing it under the influence of alcohol, is it fit for forgving? If no, what excuse? (ii) Do you think he has done the same thing without the influence of alcohol? Usually people behave when they have not consumed alcohol.
CSK Fan Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 No one is giving any benefit to doubt to them. My point is we can have a lot less number of such crimes if men start prohibiting alcohol. Once again we fall into the same trap. Trying to pass blame on everything else but the men doing the deed Me and my friends have alcohol. Do we go and rape someone? 1) The day we stop trying to pass the blame on other things like alcohol, porn, dresses, we will understand the real issue and progress 2) What freedom will you take away from law-abiding citizens because of some criminals? Alcohol causes some men to rape so no one should drink Meat causes passion so should be banned Porn causes some people to behave bad so should be banned Do you even see the fallacies of your points?
CSK Fan Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It has become fashionable nowadays for some people to hate men and treat all men as if they are rapists' date=' molesters or perverts etc. Let them have their fun. Its their mauka, mauka now.[/quote'] Patheitc, pathetic post. Number of women who do this is not even 0.01%. However number fo women who are abused and mistreated is over 70% Yet some men want to portray the victim mentality when nothing is farther from the truth. Use the behavior of some despicable human beings to try and prove that men are the oppressed one when it is completely false

vvvslaxman Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Our generation is slowly turning into MEME-DRIVEN. They post bunch of pictures with catchy messages everyone starts to believe it is true. One of the picture i come across nowadays is what the rapist said in an interview next to what the politicians, sadhus said in their interview. They also left out statement from women in that picture as it would not suit the agenda. They merely compare the statement of theirs and they imply they also have rapist mentality. Also we are not even sure how truthful his statements are. Considering his appeal is going on there is a distinct chance he merely repeated what his defense lawyer told him to say. In the process we just trivialized a brutal crime. If you ask all the parents in the world about what they feel about rape. More than 50% would say the same thing. That doesn't mean they have rapist mentality. They have conservative mentality. We just don't distinguish between them and put everything in one basket. Second of all even if they come out with theories for why Rape is happening they are not gold standard. You can come up with your own theory why rapes occur. Nobody stops you. The worst part we are just hung on to these statements from politicians and preach ourselves everyone thinks like that forgetting we are also part of the society. When i was new to Los Angeles, first thing i was told was don't loiter around downtown at night. I didn't go "They are obstructing our freedom blah blah". Because it is safe. But i had to go to downtown at midnight once as i missed a bus. I lost my wallet.. A black dude pretended he was searching with me.. but he was the one who took it. But i didn't dare to protest. There are certain things like girls going alone in the dark is unsafe even in civilized country let alone India. We wrongly interpret our freedom is being curtailed. Having said that in this day and age girls work in corporate companies. They often have to leave home late. So it presents lot of opportunities for perverts. So security has to be beefed up at various parts of the cities at night. Problem with majority of the thinking is "changing the mind of pervert" . Good luck with that. never going to happen.

Lets agree alcohol exacerbates the situation. SO WHAT is my question to RKT? Here is another fact - an erect d1ck also causes the situation to escalate. Toh kya abhi l*nd kaaat ke rakh de?

Someone says a low effort one liner and then you have people enjoying that such a low effort comment to jizz all over their paints. Additionally, there is no space for nuance - either you are a bhakt or you are secular. There is nothing in between.
rkt.india Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 OK. Alcohol plays a role - fine. Are you ONLY making an observation or are you trying to get at something? Just an observation. I am not saying alcohol should be banned. It must be a self conscious decision from people.
rkt.india Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Toh kya abhi l*nd kaaat ke rakh de? You must fo you can do. You cant cut penis, but can certainly control alcohol. I mentioned alcohol not as an excuse for them but as a social issue for poor, uneducated people.

I wouldn't have called police, because all my life i have been taught to ignore eve teasing, abuses etc etc..just saying that the man got sort of sympathy from the public, thats what i felt.I know its not a big deal.yes i have taken all those abuses ''not a big deal'' kind of way all through my life.

CSK Fan Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 . Having said that in this day and age girls work in corporate companies. They often have to leave home late. Good luck with that. never going to happen. Disagree. Mindsets and cultures do change over time if pushed in the right direction. The comparison with shady parts of a town are not justified because every country will reach a point in their fight against crime after which it is impossible to proceed. No country will have the resources However in India, misogyny is still at a very high level and we have a long way to go before getting them to controllable levels.
CSK Fan Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 No' date=' I dont have any sympathy for drunkards.[/quote'] I have no sympathy for narrow minded people who cannot look beyond themselves and judge them on such things as whether they drink or eat meat. We have lots of such people in our country India has such a repressed menatlity about such things that everything is blamed on them instead of looking at the actual reasons. For examples, there were some article about porn and rapists and people here like Radhika were asking porn to be banned. However truth is, that in the west studies have been done on this and violent criminals and rapists are made to watch porn to control their tendencies This is how far away from reality we are because of our repressed culture that we believe the opposite of what is true just because we have been brought up to think these things are bad by themselves.
