Someone who is a racist will be one - with or without the documentary. because it paints a continuing picture on attitudes towards India and its citizens. I have never said that India's image started being maligned only with the documentary aired. Its been a process I can trace back years ago. Clearly it seems Raghav appears to be leaning towards my assessment of the situation.

The Universities will invite and treat you like a king to have you pursue a course there (to take your hard earned / borrowed money). When it is time for you to make some Euros (get a return, pay you back), they may send you back home .... Tata

G_B_ Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Reading her reply from 2014 and 2015 the reason being given is same.So i guess it was due to the same "India has rape culture bombardment" thing. the explosion of rape related stories from India in the western media started post nirbhaya in december 2012 when it became a big issue in India (rightly so for the indian media to report it i applaud them) Both her emails are post 2012 which leads me to believe that this women did indeed hold a major grudge against indian males based on the media stories she was reading. As somebody who lives in the UK i can say that nearly every newspaper in the UK every second story about India is about rape. Its not just India who is subjected to this treatment various other developing countries are subjected to something or the other. If you are a layman who does not know much about India you start to develop a picture. Say India generates positive news worth of 5 articles and 5 articles worth of negative news. The western media outlets will report only the 5 bad news articles. Now i have no issue if they report the good and the bad. Lets not kid ourselves, india does have some bad issues. This selective vision of a country is what i am against. Its not as if Indian media is a saint. The student killings/beatings in australia too lacked objectivity. Somebody reading the Indian media would have thought that Australia was a terrible place to be for Indian students. Which was not the true picture.

As posted in the other thread it appears to be the view of Anjali bhushan one of the co editors (if indeed it is authentic). I do have a problem with the BBC airing these sensationalist documentaries which add nothing to the process. Fast track courts not working again is your opinion. I for one am willing to give them a try. Obviously a long term solution is to change the attitudes in society. But there needs to be something Sir, they have already been given "a try" and are considered ineffective.

If people are having trouble comprehending, then it is the problem with the people - not the documentary.

But there needs to be something we can do. As i said before long term goals are to educate and change attitudes. Short term there needs to be something which can be done to stem the tide. I am talking about concrete actions. Maybe more women constables and a general increase in the size of the police force. (this remains a state level endeavour).

Also, there can't be change in attitude unless you sweep sh1t under the carper. Even the femi-nazis don't understand the problem but shout at the top of there voices. Nirbhaya gang rape - WE WANT DEATH PENALTY! DEATH PENALTY! These "activists" do NOT understand that increase of penalty does not automatically deter the crime.

We need all the awareness and exposure required for this. Use every resource, make sure incidents are highlighted 2) However, as an independent country, others have absolutely no business poking their nose in our affairs. BBC or CNN or US or UK are not altruistic messiahs who only have our best interests in heart. They just want to pander to their user base. We should definitely oppose any such instances of others trying to malign our country or use such things for their own advantage,
