MK55 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Warner seems vulnerable on 4th stump line if the ball's shaping away. But if you bowl too full he murders you. We can bowl short balls but then are our bowlers capable of bowling 145k well directed short balls? Smith keeps shuffling against fast bowlers which is even irritating to watch as a spectator. We can target leg stump with a finer fine leg fielder and leg slip but it could be risky as he can also milk the bowlers on the leg side for easy singles. Unlike Watson he seems very composed against the short ball Wahab's spell today has shown that Watson is susceptible against well directed quick short bowling. But Watson looked comfortable against Sohail. So I'm not sure if Mohit's short ball tactics will work against him. Same goes for Maxwell. Umesh bowled well in patches against him in the tri series when tried bowling short early juxtaposed with some yorkers. What should be our game plan?

If they bat first under clear skies, they may post 300-350. Even if they post just 250-300, we have to chase it UNDER LIGHTS. Win toss, bat first is our best chance.

Remember the 03 WC? Srinath, Zak and Nehra had formed an excellent trio, with able back-up from Bhajji and/or Kumble. And then came the final... And that Oz team did not have players with the SRs and capabilities of the Maxwells, Faulkners, etc.
