Say against Riaz between Kohi an Watto who would you back ? Against giraffe it is even harder as he bounces from good length. People do not watch test series or follow cricket so they would not understand

I am just talking about general trend around the world. England was absolutely sh** scared against MJ even on flat decks. Remember we bounced them out in England.

He used to be pretty good against short pitch bowling earlier' date= not in the class of some of the top batsmen against short pitch bowling but much better than he is today. Clarke knew about his degenerative back condition since 2004.Michael Clarke has always been an iffy candidate against the short ball. Particularly, the one in the ribs. When you compare short balls in Adelaide, SCG with WACCA pitch, there is a vast difference... But then again, current Indian lot is got better compare than previous generations.. you can see that in recent tours..

It is the lateral movement they have trouble with (Dravid and Sachin being exceptions, and probably Rahane among the current batsmen too). Saffers are the best players of express pace and bounce because they are constantly exposed to these surfaces and they also face world class bowlers in the nets. Australia's batting quality against pace bowling has been on the wane for several years now due to flat pitches at home.

The way we have played Johnson in tests in Australia and Steyn + Morkel in South Africa....there are not many batsmen who do it now. I don't think the Australians have played Steyn and co. any better in South Africa. Whether we are the best or not....we are one of the best for sure. Kohli, Rahane and Rohit have attacked the short ball very well. The way Kohli has hit Johnson in Australia was awesome. Vijay is really good at leaving short balls. Dhoni is good against short stuff too. We have seen Watson, Clark, Maxwell, Haddin, Amla, some other South Africans and almost the entire English team have looked weak against the short ball. So has Gayle and co.

Smith is not entire a convincing puller like Rahane or Kohli. Finch may be a hack but he is very good against Short ball.And the Marsh brothers r very good players of short ball.Not sure why Smith isnt convincing he was very good against Steyn and Morkel in SA

So has Watson, Clark, Maxwell and Haddin.
peterparker Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 All batsmen struggle against good short pitch bowling....I don't think Indian batsmen are better' date='most of these domestic bullies have front foot trigger movement.[/quote'] shot pitch bowling to rohit,dhoni,kohli,rahane is meaning less, they are compulsive pullers/hookers, as they come into the position quickly. dhawan also manages it pretty well, at least, he does not get raffled by the bouncers, and if it is in his zone, hits a very good pull. even ashwin is very good in handling shot pitch stuff. only raina has a problem.
