They get into all kind of awkward positions. Wahab Riaz has admitted it was a planned short stuff barrage as he said "Watson is not good against short balls these days". From SA ABDV is good. Brendon "mekellum" is good. During the OZ series lot of channel 9 commies said about Rahane and Kohli "one of the best batting against short balls in Australia in a long long time". Dhoni is good against short ball. So is Rohit. Only guys who have weaknesses are Raina and Dhawan.

They pick up the short balls much faster than most of the guys. I know short ball is uncomfortable for everyon.. Good ones. But Aussies got into weird position . Clarke looked like Mohammad Azharuddin against short ball. Punter was much better. Warner is good typically i agree. Wonder increase in docile Australian pitches is turning them into FTBs.

We don't have a single world class pacer to challenge the Aussies with the short stuff. We have no Wahab, no Mitchell, no Steyn, no Milne, no Southee, no Starc. We have average bowlers who will probably not be as effective as the Aussies. Our batsmen are average too. Lets see how our batting jumps around.

Say against Riaz between Kohi an Watto who would you back ? Against giraffe it is even harder as he bounces from good length.

Mooli is the best leaver of the short ball in the past 25-30 years. The way he trolled the likes of Johnson, Morkel, Broad was epic. 165 short balls in Aus series and 164 leaves, 1 run I think. :giggle:

We have gotten much better defending/avoiding short balls with exception of Raina and Jadeja. But Aussies and Saffies are better at attacking the short ball at pace, simply because they are more exposed to it...

Watson used to be decent against short balls. May be exposure of too many flat decks these days. Lehmann warned Pakistan of bounce on the pitch prior to QF. It is the Aussies who had struggles against short balls.

Healy generally does not appreciate any opposition. He said "Rahane is one of the best puller Australia has seen in a long long time" Can we prove otherwise. How many times did you see Indians fending off, reacting late against bouncers in the last 4 overseas series. Murali Vijay was impeccable in this respect all 4 series.

Clarke is on his last legs in international cricket due to his chronic back injury. He used to be pretty good against short pitch bowling earlier, not in the class of some of the top batsmen against short pitch bowling but much better than he is today.

You don't get to be a top class Test bat if such a weakness is present. Having said that, Punter was more gifted against the short ball before his reflexes fell away.

Greg Blewett was pretty good too but an awful player against spin.

Remember Ishant working over him in the 2010 series with short stuff and getting him out .That too in Indian conditions
