He could give you that quick start and those inswingers would be clipped to the leg side or played straight down. Yes he didn't pull/hook much but it wouldn't matter. He could pierce any gap or hit good balls through the off side.

Dhawan I first thought would be similar but he isn't. Chalo no big deal. If we play sensibly with the bat like how against South Africa, we can push Australia.

They won with 6 wickets in hand and 100 balls to spare. That does not look like they struggled. And Wahab bowled brilliantly, much unlike a "third string bowling line up".

Something about the way he played :icflove: Not in ODIs when the ball was doing something.Like in Australia or SA Now with 2 new balls it would have even worse for him I know,but these are flat pitches and with 5 fielders rule it would have suited viru.anyway he puts fear in to bolwers pitch hardly matters on his day even on green banks of nz he scored a century.

Marut Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Viru in form would have murdered any team on these concrete slabs they call pitches. A Viru triple hundred was quite possible against weaker teams. If you take pitches out of the equation, the bowlers rarely meant anything to Viru. He got that test triple against the likes of Steyn. Starc would have to get him very early else long punishment would be in store for all the bowlers.

That means, if we are batting first, we not be reduced to 40/3 or if we are bowling first, not let the Aussies get off a 100/1 after 12 overs start on the back of a couple of dropped catches. The longer we can stay in the game, we give ourselves a puncher's chance. Having said that, Australian batsmen are more explosive, their bowlers more penetrating and their fielding markedly better than ours. It is going to take a remarkable performance from us (or) an equally remarkable collapse from their side to enable us to win this game.
