No sun to start with. An entire pitch block under the covers, clouds, uncertainty; a day of umbrellas opened rather than sleeves rolled. India's World Cup semi-final is under 48 hours away and it is promising to be overcast and gloomy for the better part of those hours. The Thursday weather report promises what the Indians would want - "cloud clearing." The last thing India need going into their semi-final against Australia is a pitch that has spent maximum time under covers.
BeautifulGame Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 A pitch that has spending lot of time under covers wouldnt be a bad this.It would mean swing in the first 4-5 overs so fielding side wont be completely disadvantaged.We have better swing bowlers and better players of swing.Most Aussie bat are hacks so play into our advantage ANd being under cover doesnt change the nature of the pitch the dry pitch will still be dry.It might even turn due to the moisture on the wkt. The weather is bright sunny day for tomorrow so it is gone bake most of the time as well.So will be slower in the 2nd half anyway and if we bowl first Aussies dont have spinner to take advantage. Its Sharda Ugra always trying to find a negative angle to write about . We are winning tomorow andd lifting it on sunday @ MCG :two_thumbs_up:

Doesn't matter how hard it is batting first it will be even worse under lights in Australia Remember the Eng-Ban in Adelaide? It was raining for days till the morning match started and yet didn't swing for more than 4-5 Overs . Positive and bat first .Let's not repeat the stupidly of 2003 WC

Heavy rolling of a strip that sports very little live grass is geared at making it as hard and bouncy as possible, but it is unlikely to offer the sort of steep bounce and lateral movement Australia's pacemen are seeking. The possibility of spin is more intriguing, as of all spinners only the legbreaks of Imran Tahir have deviated significantly all tournament. The weather forecast is fine.

It's a drop in pitch, it will behave like the last one used, it will look very dry and spin friendly but it won't spin much and it will have decent pace and carry, spinners will be crucified.
