Tiger80 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 When I started I was really, really a medium-pace bowler, very slow," Wahab says. "But Aqib Javed worked on me. He always said, 'If you don't bowl fast, you can't be a fast bowler.' So he really pushed me, made me work hard for six, seven years and then I started to bowl fast. You start enjoying it when you bowl fast, and suddenly when I was bowling fast, I always tried to bowl fast. "I didn't know where I was bowling, but I just tried to bowl fast. That's how I developed my pace. I might have been like 110-112kph when I started my career in Under-17 and Under-19. Aqib knew what I was and he had a big role to play in my career; to make me play for Pakistan because he worked a lot on me. At times he took his hand off and said, 'I cannot work with you', but he never gave up on me." http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/854113.html Long article but this is most important. Our bowlers should learn something from him. He was 110-120 kph bowler as under 19 but now he bowled the fastest bowl of WC 2015 :hatsoff:
tweaker Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Our coaches should emphasize on speed instead of line & length. There are many bowlers who could have increased their pace, but they choose to bowl within themselves to prolong their Ranji careers
Autonomous Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Its also about mental aspect, Indian bowlers dont have that ruthless attitude. They need hunger to take wickets and get through batsmen, Also you guys need to have them eating some meat and desi ghee.
Yamaha Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Huge fan of Wahab. His incredible spell to Watson will be one of the best memories of this WC. He should be a regular in the Pak side now. It's a shame we can't watch him in the IPL.

Yamaha Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Also a decent bat and late order slogger' date=' By2016 we will have Wahab,Amir, Rahat and Junaid all playing in one team.[/quote'] Pakistan have always had good bowling but what about batting? Things are looking bleak on that front.
Autonomous Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Pakistan have always had good bowling but what about batting? Things are looking bleak on that front. I think batting will be much better now. Lala was neither a batsman nor bowler a true liability who is gone. With Akmal gone too Babar Azam is likely to come in qho is a very solid and compact player, Very fine technique and has a decent head, Very unlike our hacks. Also Haris Sohail is already performing and he will be a very good in long run already made a solid match winning 85* against NZ. Further Umar Siddiq is also a solid opening batsman coming up and poor guy Fawad Alam was already there in line up before YK used media pressure to get himself in for Fawad.
Autonomous Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 He blows hot and cold - similar to Indian pacers. But him pumped up makes up a great sight. However Wahab is a great lad with sensible head, Had an excellent interview before Australia game. Not to forget very fit in team and a good fielder which is rare in pakistani side.
Gollum Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 My favourite passage of play this WC was his spell against Australia. The world needs menacing fast bowlers to keep FTBs in check.
Ranvir Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 You don't need to eat meat to be strong. I'm saying this as a meat eater myself. Look at elephants, rhinos and gorillas! There is plenty of protein in lentils (an indian staple) and drinking lots of milk helps. What they need to do is hit the gym more and be mentally stronger. There isn't much difference at all in the pace of Riaz and Yadav.

Guldozer Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Pakistan have always had good bowling but what about batting? Things are looking bleak on that front. Yeah. The most exciting prospect at the moment is Babar Azam. I've been following him since he was 15 and he seems to be a really good player. He is a sensible version of Umar Akmal...and is also his cousin.

hazharoon Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 This is the story of every Pakistani. We were once all originally Indian right :)
imran666 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 aquib javid himself is a trundler right ?? he was a good bowler but his performances were always over shawdowed by the 2 Ws ..and he played mot of his matches in asia and sharjha ..and then azhar mahmood came and he was gone forever
Vicky95 Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 This is the story of every Pakistani. We were once all originally Indian right :) Good one :haha:
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 exercise is one major component in building a fast bowler imran khan was a joggin fanatic. malinga is a swimming enthusiast. tho i think akhtar overdid the muscle building part. he also did not watch his weight and he had to undergo liposuction to reduce his weight. anyone remember this?
midge Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Loved his attitude. That's the fire that one needs to have when playing for your country. Long article but this is most important. Our bowlers should learn something from him. He was 110-120 kph bowler as under 19 but now he bowled the fastest bowl of WC 2015 :hatsoff:
