Have we lost Sehwag and Gambhir from tests

Sehwag and Gambhir were supposed to carry the Indian test batting legacy after the fabulous 4 of Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Ganguly retired from test cricket. They were supposed to be the bridge between the fab 4 generation and the next generation of Kohli, Rohit, Pujara etc. Sehwag is the Only Indian to hit 2 triple hundreds in tests. With Dhoni who had problems with both Sehwag and Gambhir, gone in in test cricket, and plenty of cricket to be played in subcontinent (potential UAE tour)in near future, is there a case for Sehwag to be recalled to bat in middle order, which he wanted to do after Sachin retired. Sehwag still has to still score 1500 runs in tests to reach 10,000 runs. Sehwag had been batting at no.4 in tests for the Ranji team Delhi for last few months. Let us look at the current scores of Sehwag between Dec 2014 and Feb 2015 in ranji tests. Seems to be in good nick with couple of hundreds and 50s, consistently. 1. 49,19-Feb 2015 2. 21, 41 3. 66- Jan 2015 4. 39 5. 147, 8-Jan 2015 6. 105-Dec 2014 7. 64-Dec 2014 8. 9 Meanwhile Gambhir still had been opening for Delhi and his recent ranji scores between Dec 2014 and Feb 2015 are 1. 5, 34 2. 44, 67-Feb 2015 3. 6, 16 4. 94- Jan 2015 5. 13 6. 21,46-Jan 2015. Sehwag appears to be in decent nick and should be considered for either opening slot if Dhawan fails or in middle order if Pujara, Rohit or Rahane does not step up. Discuss.:om:

Nope. We need to look at future, and use India tests to boost our young batsmen and their confidence. And not waste them on has-been batsmen, and exposing our youngsters abroad. Ridiculous thought in fact. Further, domestic performances are hardly hall mark of international ability. Sachin was still batting extremely fluidly in the few domestic games he played towards the end of his career but that didn't become big scores in tests.

They have nobody but themselves to blame. When they were flopping left right and center on England and Aus tour, everyone excused them. Problem started when at home England and NZ too was a failure for them along with Pakistan and England ODIs. On top of that the statements like we still average 50+, we are still the best openers in the country, blah blah showed they weren't really interested in working on their game. Rightly kicked out and after that Vijay and Dhawan took their chances very well in Aus home series.

Both players have attitude problems and both are too arrogant. They are well past their primes and no point hiring players who are moving towards the western horizon.

Lol at them being out just Dhoni having problems with them, if anything they got extended rope GG was there in England tour and looked like a tailender

Viru deserves another chance if he shows form. He scored a century in that first test v England at home but was dropped after a few more tests I think. Gambhir had his chance in England and looked pathetic.

Both are finished IMO. Viru was a legend and Gambhir was a very good batsman for a while but cant see them making it back to the team. They have themselves to blame because if they had kept working on their technique and kept getting better, they could have become the captain and vice captain, more importantly could have scored runs to bail out Indian team in Eng, Aus because they had some experience and were in their prime unlike Sachin, Dravid, Laxman who were on the verge of retirement but they grassed their chances.

Vijay KL Rahul Rahane Kohli Pujara Rohit/Tiwary Saha/Samson Likes of Dhawan, Sehwag and Gauti shouldn't be back. Dhawan should be specialist ODI bat. Gauti and Sehwag should be gone for good.
