PBN Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Why are many people surprised at India's decision? If India had voted in favor, then that would've been a welcome surprise. Like others have posted, India basically voted in align with its stance on gays in India. It will take time for the mindset to change in India and in general. It will likely start with the new generation. Not too long ago, say 10-15 years, gays and others were viewed in a very different way than today even in countries like USA, Canada, etc. The average person's mindset has definitely changed in favor of gay rights, etc in the society, mainstream media, or on TV shows, etc in the last 10-15 or so years.
triam Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 but isnt the govt representatives of the ppl? and no child marriaages and honor killing have no chance of succeeding on the ballot our misfortune in such circumstances is that even if 10% adhere to some stupd ideal it means that over 100 million are part of that group and thats more people than most countries No, democracy was not to be meant to be mob rule or satisfying the majority. There should be ways to protect minorities even if it is 1 individual.
Red Point Blue Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 We should just ban everything, and still talk about how wonderful a democracy we are. :yay:
The Outsider Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Another step towards becoming the Hindu version of Pakistan.
someone Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Another step towards becoming the Hindu version of Pakistan. Maybe, Muslims should firstly support homosexual. Instead of their usual fatwas issued by their Mullahs. Why doesn't our Indian Muslims support these rights? :giggle:
Invasion 550 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 The Indian government would take a decision that would be in line with the wishes of the public. You guys are the top 10 per cent of India. The rest of the folks would prolly disown their child if he commits homosexuality.
gs Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Maybe' date=' Muslims should firstly support homosexual. Instead of their usual fatwas issued by their Mullahs. Why doesn't our Indian Muslims support these rights? :giggle:[/quote'] Ouch man! :giggle:

How could that be?
