It has less to do with rise and more to do with Captaincy change and self belief. From what I saw, its the same core players with addition of a couple of new ones. But it's the CAPTAIN that's making a serious change and bringing a difference their team. When was the last time any one of us saw 4 fast bowler in a BD match? Captain being a fast bowler gave spinners less chances and more chances to fast bowlers. He even made Shakib bowl in the 25th over today and not before that.

Indian team and fans attitude before the match: Support for BD. Always underdogs, weak, losers. No threat. Hence everyone liked them and supported them, barring a few unsporting incidents which did incite hate in some. Apart from that overall because they were weak and pushovers for most of the 21st century they were supported for a majority of it. After match: Bacha is no longer Bacha, Bacha wants to compete. Bacha is a threat. Bacha is not such a big underdog, but an actual threat. Now everyone hates you. Everyone wants to put you back where you came from, to knock you off. Now you will feel the full force of the best ODI players in the world. They will be more focused and more determined to win to ensure BD remain small....and I guess as a result likeable too. 2-1 India, expert that I am has called it. :orderorder:

They are Able & confident, have taken the load/pressure off the original core, so the core is also able to perform without pressure. Overall, it's a rise actually from Ashes, if you see the performance of 2014 ... The team has had the biggest change in attitude and thought process. This team will win some and lose some, but they won't lose/Win like they used to before.... So yes it's a rise ..Might look like a Smal Leap Forward, but huge in terms of Significance & Maturity of the Team ....

I have talked abt the monetary effect of IPL (not just salary) and the adverse effect on hunger of players for Intl bilaterals, vis-a-vis those of previous eras. People can ignore it as much as they want, but the issue is real.

The Indian bowlers have become very soft. They dont feel the pain of even a mosquito bite when they get smashed for boundaries. heck even venkatesh prasad and robin singh seemed angry when they got hit for fours. Yadav, Ishanth, Bhuvi, Aaron, Mohit seem shameless in that aspect. forget aggressive posturing, they keep bowling as if its no big deal.

I really believe that if we can defeat India in the ODI series than we would really see a whole new and confident Bangladesh team that would always believe themselves as favorites in ODI;s at home, no matter the opposition. There is no team stronger than India in ODI provided the subcontinent conditions (australia is stonger overall, but they are 2nd in subcontinent to india).

I want to see whether they can maintain the momentum and close it out like all good teams do. Also, if we apply cold logic, this is a weak Indian team full of passengers. The fearsome Indian team became fearsome because of the way Dhoni and Yuvraj could finish games; that is the big transition they made from being a good team to a team who can win anywhere. Now Yuvraj and Dhoni have faded, and the middle and lower order looks seriously vulnerable. Though India is better than Pakistan still, it is nowhere near the top 3 ODI teams in the world, specially when they are playing outside their comfort zone. A lot of Bangladeshi fans would be reasonably pleased if we can win this series - but that would not automatically mean that we can be a threat to any of the Top 3 teams in the world. And if we lose to this series to India - we would be back to where we were - well played, choked and lost.

Now you are winning/Banglawashing opponents :winky: very often. The way BD treated NZ and Pak in recent times has been eye opening for a non Bangladeshi like me. I have been following your team since 2000 and I can see a huge difference in technique, fast bowling, confidence, swagger and most importantly temperament(how many times have you collapsed from winning positions over the years?) Your run in the CWC 2015(in alien conditions) was splendid and apart from the final victors it was Bangladesh which gave NZ a scare. I see Bangladesh winning a few matches even against the likes of Australia, NZ, England in Asian conditions. Mind you in spite of all our flaws/slump India/Lanka/Pak are still very tough to beat in SC and to see Bangladesh doing it so consistently means you are a good team. If we analyze your team you have explosive players in Tamim, Mushfiqur,Soumya,an accumulator in Riyad Mahmudullah, a handful of good all rounders headed by the best ODI all rounder in the world, an inspirational captain and a couple of good quicks. I am eagerly looking forward to see how the careers of the youngsta beauties Taskin and Soumya unfold. Taskin the 20 year old has the potential of being a top fast bowler(the cricketing world desperately needs good bowlers ATM) not only in Asia but in the whole world. And what can I say about the super stylish Soumya, I wish he were from India :haha:, serious serious talent. Has all the ingredients to be a once in a generation batsman. Wish he stops throwing his wicket every now and then and learns how not to run himself out so many times.
