A question to Bangladesh fans : Do you deserve Test status?

What you easily forget is that Indian tactics were to win. In South Africa, India was in winning position on Day 4 both Tests. They won a Test in England. Went for a very probable win in the first Test against Australia, and played extremely well in the last two. Can't you see the difference in the way Bangladesh is approaching Test Cricket? Even on the flattest track, you are going with 3 mediocre bowlers ! You start a test planning a draw. It may be a moral victory for Bangladesh, but the tactics to achieve that draw are disgraceful. We all bicker about ICC/BCCI killing Test Cricket, but what they do is nothing compared to the way BCB is handling Test Cricket. I am very clear about my thoughts on this, Bangladesh's test status needs be revoked.
Its a ridiculous assertion that BCCI is killing Test cricket. Certain BCCI positions are not good for the overall game (eg position on DRS) but only a fool would argue BCCI is killing cricket. And under Dalmiya we may be seeing a BCCI that is far better for the global game than it was in the past. Bangladesh who play 1/3 of the matches as India can't possibly kill anything. Why does it matter how bad Bangladesh matches are...no one watches Bangladesh matches, or so we're told. So are you suggesting that Bangladesh should go for innings defeats by attacking and attempting to win instead of playing for a draw? It took India 25 tests and 20 years to win their first test, and judging by the margin of defeats they most likely were also aiming to draw for at least the first 2-3 generations of cricketers. For New Zealand the numbers were even more grim. Around 50 matches and 26 years to win their first Test. Like India half of their defeats were by an innings, and so they were most likely also just looking to draw. Bangladesh from 2000-2012 were garbage. However, in the past 2 years we've made considerable progress. Look at the struggles India have in finding a potent bowling attack and remember that our resources and player pool are about 10 times smaller. Try to have reasonable expectations. Practice what you preach to BD fans.

Some of us often tries to hide our own problems by comparing ourselves with Ind,Pak etc to show how late they won than us. But they played in 50s,40s. Time has changed a lot from then . And now if we count the number of matches they played back then we will see that actualy we are the one who managed to won first test after long time. That too against a weak ZIM. However I don't agree with OP here. If you think one should give up Test then ask ZIM first. Why everyone including ICF, PP even some of BC saying BD should give up Test Status. Yes we are very poor but not the worst. :beee: Shame.

Bangladesh is easily the worst team in test history...check this one from last year.. http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/782067.html Of the 85 Tests that Bangladesh have played so far, they've lost 70 and won just four. Those stats are easily the worst among all teams when they'd played as many Tests Its almost 14 years since Bangladesh became a Test-playing nation, and during this period they've played 85 Tests. It's normal for teams to struggle in this format in their early days, but Bangladesh's numbers have been particularly disappointing, even allowing for that early struggle. Out of those 85 Tests they've lost 70, and most of them have been by huge margins - 36 by an innings, six by more than 200 runs, and eight more by nine or ten wickets. Their four wins are equally split against Zimbabwe and West Indies, but the two wins against West Indies were against a second-string side in 2009, where the entire batting line-up consisted of players who wouldn't have made it into the first XI.

I expected this from you.. However at this moment there is a worser team than us and that's ZIM. And ZIM have passed their semi good time and since 2004/5 they are worse than us barring one or two achievements. And you know it. Just to dish your neighboring country(Indians Expert at this) don't deny this.

thats your only solace now...Beating a team that had taken a break from cricket and just returning back to normal cricket...But now under Dave Whatmore there are again back running and I would back them to beat Bangladesh in the future..

No they don't deserve it.. Pathetic attitude towards test cricket.. They never play with intent to win..they only play for draw.Playing with 8 batsman on flat pitch showed that.. It was hilarious that Soumya was bowling with new ball.

Indian fans overrate their team of mediocre test players. If BD doesn't deserve test status, then India doesn't deserve either. India has been total $ hit in overseas test matches.

So much nonsense that I don't even want to counter it.

I think he was being sarcastic, but it wasn't obvious enough (especially the comment about India being terrible overseas which made his post more believable). :haha:

As if Indian's prepare English type wickets :hysterical: The game is a draw because of rain dohhhhh.
We have competitive wickets in most grounds. The team sucks, and so does the pitch. Should have just been an LOI series

The more I read Pakistanis, the more I am convinced that they live in some sort of a parallel universe. You guys lie so convincingly that it can't be real. :omg:

Lie? So Indian's prepare green tops? :hysterical: Im pretty sure if there was no rain, Ind would have hammered BD. OP makes no sense regarding preparing pattas & drawn match because it has been raining!!

India prepare rank-turners which produce as many results as green-tops in England. Bangladesh's pitches and approach towards Tests is all about securing draws (90% times, they fail even at that). OP doesn't imply that this Test will be a draw because of the surface. This thread is about Bangladeshi approach and why they don't deserve Test status.

Green tops? Here? Do you even realize what you're saying?

I really don't getting it. Why many are complaining about out our Test status ?? We are not the worst team at this moment. If you are so desperate to reduce the number of Test playing nations, you should first ask ZIM to give up the status. Then you have the right to ask BD about that. A simple logic. And please don't brag down Zimbabwe's past semi glorious time in late 90s to early 2000s. Since 2003/4 they have been struggling more than us. And please don't deny this just to dish BD. However I don't want any team to be thrown out of Test Status in a hurry..wether it is BD or ZIM. Although anyone can easily get that BD is better than ZIM but still for some arrogant Indian Posters. "Bangladesh beat zimbabwe 3-0 in test just last year and in ZIM's home turf the series was 1-1. So it clearly shows who is the better side overall.. One off result doesn't mean much."

Do we have players who deserve to play test... absolutely... However while the players dont lack skill, they severely lack the courage to think that they can defeat any team other than zimbabwe in test. This defensive mindset is ruining our cricket.
