jalebi_bhai Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 The Karnataka High Court today acquitted former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa of corruption charges in a disproportionate assets case. Wasn't she in jail for conspiracy to murder? Or was it this case?
BeautifulGame Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Wasn't she in jail for conspiracy to murder? Or was it this case? No .Only corruption charges . Both the earleir one Tansi in 2001 and this are solely corruption cases .Not sure about any murder case Few years back they dropped charges in her in a case on throwing acid on IAS officer .

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing she was acquitted for lack of evidence in this case.
BeautifulGame Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Obviously DMK will again appeal in SC and considering what happened with Bavani Singh ,won't be surprised if SC convicts her again . But for now massive relief not just to Amma and frankly to TN as well Almost every project and state machinery (including Metro rail) was friezed so that Amma can get credit when she returns . The whole state was paralyzed for last 6-7 months .Now hopefully normalcy returns and all projects will pick up pace with Elections only 8 months away

BeautifulGame Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Only the state or the petitioner (Subramanian Swamy) can appeal against this ruling. Anbalagan was one of the petitioner so DMK will appeal He was one who challenged Bavani Singh appointment in SC
Raghav_12 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Disappointed but court would have own ressons to give this verdict,
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 This will again go into appeal. And if SC stays the HC judgement Amma can forget about becoming CM.

sticky wicket Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Jaya is pro-GST and Land bill, so a boost for NDA too and Indian economy especially if GST is passed.
Precambrian Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Anbalagan was one of the petitioner so DMK will appeal He was one who challenged Bavani Singh appointment in SC The Public prosecutor said there is no ground for an appeal in SC:haha: Amma will exert required 'pressure' to prevent other appeals. BJP would want to suck up to JAya now, so I doubt Swamy would go for appeal despite the usual soundbytes
velu Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 This will again go into appeal. And if SC stays the HC judgement Amma can forget about becoming CM. Lots of ifs..
