Reluctance to try younsters

Haven't the selectors become to reluctant to try players at young age ? I mean we had time when we used to give chances to raw players and find out some exceptional talents like Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Zaheer, Kaif. All these were sub 20 while they debuted in ODIs. Now days we don't even try out players in T20s let alone ODIs. Youngest player among the batsmen going to Zimbabwe is Manish Pandey who is turning 26 this year. We could have tried at least Sanju Samson as a potential wicket keeper. What about Yuzvendra Chahal as spinner? I never see Karn Sharma a player in longer run. Falling back to Harbhajan is also not good. I don't know on what basis Sandip Patil said, its the team chose for building up for WT20. How ?? Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha in India A are potential players for next generation ODIs ? Abhimanyu Mithun, really ?? I never understand how come he and Vinay Kumar get selected again and again.

This selection committee of Sandip Patil is complete joke. They don't have any plan for future. They are trying to resurrect Harbhajan 's career. They should have maintained a good balance between fast bowler & trundlers for Zimbabwe & A tour

don't ruin ur preSent by thinking about future...India will find new playerS after 4-5 yearS..why 28-30 age group playing ranji then if they dont get chance becauSe of age.. already india waSted 2 SlotS in nohit and iShant for 7 yearS building team for future

Until we try new guys how will we get to know about our bench strength. Team touring Zim is another example recycling. When Sandeep Patil became selector he had said in an Interview that he does not look too far or think too much about future. I knew it at that time that he does not have a long-term vision.

Isnt the problem that all our bench strength is in the A team. This is what happens when you try to choose effectively an India A and B, there is not THAT much depth so both squads have had to be compromised. Uthappa, Sandeep, Manish and Jadhav would have been better in the A team list A matches. This tour to Zim should never have been organised at the same time as the Aussies A tour

There are still a lot of players who could have been tried instead of likes of Harbhajan. VPS was the highest wicket taker in Vijay Hazare. He could have been in the team to Zimbabwe.

Most of the credit goes to Dhoni ..... he doesn't have trust on young players....We need someone like ganguly...who is brave and vision...also he has eye for talent....

LOL just couple of years ago Kris Srikkanth's selection committee was hammered left right and center and Sandeep Patil was termed as savior. Now when your favorite players have not made to the team his committee is bad too. Deal with it, all selection panels are the same. Before and now.

Dhoni is not having a say in this team selection. He is not even part of it. What is stopping Sandeep Patil from picking up youngsters? Now we are going to blame Dhoni even if he not part of the the squad? There is a selection panel and they select the team. The captain has a say but now with Dhoni not in the squad, I doubt he influenced the selection. Now what, you guys want Sandeep Patil to go and someone else to come as the chairman? They will do the same thing.

This selection panel has been one of the worst ones (worse than the one Kris Srikanth led). There has been no accountability. No vision for future. No consistency. Every series we see some random names pop up and then fade away while the core stays whether they're out of form or not.

wasnt this the same selection panel which was praised for the champions trophy 2013 squad selection? Still a pretty young squad, i do believe only jadhav and bhajji are over 30?

Can't help it... We have a more settled side now as compared to 20 years earlier... With only a handful of regulars, we could try a lot of newbies in the XI at an early age... I don't see that happening now or in future... We might have a few youngsters tried out for a match or two early (Axar Patel, Abhinav Mukund etc.), but don't see too many 20 yr olds playing in the India XI... I know people will disagree, but it is also unfair on the "next in line" players like Pandey, Uthappa, Rayudu etc. who couldn't get a consistent run because of the settled XI, and a youngster grabs it because of a flashy IPL innings... I'd still want to give these guys a go, and if they perform well, make the current XI work hard for a regular place...

Mithun and Sandeep S were the top two wicket takers. Veer Pratap third, I dont know anything about VPS, is he good?

Veer Pratap third' date=' I dont know anything about VPS, is he good?[/quote'] He has good potential, decent pace, gets bounce and can move the ball too. I might be wrong about the highest wicket taker part but I distinctly remember watching the match live and him bowling well.
