Moeen Ali seems to be preferred over Rashid. I would prefer Rashid over Ali as Rashid seems better bowler. Another change should be Bairstow over Butler as he is a better with gloves. But Cook will continue with his usual politics and select his mates.

Unfortunately it appears to be something related with his family, perhaps his daughter. Meanwhile the reserve gloveman Nevill was seen talking to selection chairman Rod Marsh in the Nursery End nets amid a range of conferences among Australian players and staff. The captain Michael Clarke had his head bowed as the news was relayed to him after he had batted. Peter Lalor: It would be advisable to show Brad Haddin some respect right now If this is indeed true, then the situation must be very bad because his family is in England with him. There is one change to the squads for the first two Tests with Jonathan Bairstow coming in to the 13 in place of Gary Ballance. Bairstow has played 14 Tests in his career to date with his last appearance coming in 2014 against Australia in Sydney. The series is currently level a 1-1 with three Tests still to be played. National selector, James Whitaker, said: “The break ahead of the third Test will give the squad time to reflect on series so far and a chance to focus on playing the positive, confident cricket we saw in Cardiff. “For the third Test Ian Bell will move up the order to bat at three followed by Joe Root with Jonny Bairstow coming in at five. Jonny has worked extremely hard at his game and his record for Yorkshire speaks for itself. He fully deserves this opportunity. “Gary was naturally disappointed to miss out on this occasion however we feel that he will benefit from some time in county cricket to rediscover his form. "Mitchell Marsh's hard work over the last four months or so is really starting to pay off and going to strengthen us." McDermott said. "His approach to the wicket, his speed through the crease, and his pace is up, he almost clocked 140kph in the Test match. He's excited about being fit and swinging the ball while bowling fast. "If you've got an allrounder who's capable of bowling 140kph it certainly makes your bowling attack quite different. Bairstow and Taylor have scored more runs than Hales 3. Ali took major wickets and has scored runs. His place is safe but batting too low 4. There is no other opener. 5. For who? 6. Well duh.

He was dropped because Butler was impressive with bat. 2. Ballance is young. Doesnt mean he should be forgotten. Yes Taylor deserves to be in there too. 3. Getting wickets because batsman want to score against you works well in odis. In tests, he is time pass bowler. Statistically he has got 7 wickets so far off six of those times batsmen have got out playing a attacking shot. 4. I dont know. Lyth isnt good enough 5. Thats where I miss KP. Promote Root above Bell. 6. Its really serious aspect. If you neutralize Anderson by pitches, There is absolutely no chance that Ali,Broad and Wood will be able to take 20 wickets.
