Murali achieved it in fewer tests because he bowls more deliveries per test and has a higher SR. What is even more amazing about Steyn is that Strike Rate (41.6) has not deteriorated much since he began his career. It has always been in the 40's or less. Astonishing feat by One of the greatest fast bowlers ever , that too in an era when batting has never been easier. If he remains injury free , at his current avg of 5wkts per test he can get to 600 over the next 40 tests (4-5 years ) Also :hatsoff: to Mitchell Johnson for reaching 300 wkts in 69 tests @ SR of 50.6 . Another great fast bowler.

That is because of the lack of good bowlers nowadays. However other bowlers under-performing does not impact Steyn's performance at all.
