HippoSucks Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Inzi is a class apart from Clarke, who other than 3 or 4 great home series has been good but not great any time. Inzi has weak numbers in Australia and SA but his ODI stats completely dominate Clarke. We're talking about test matches but Inzimam's ODI statistics are nothing special either... Average of 40 with 10 centuries and mediocre performances against Australia and South Africa is not that great. He may be a better ODI batsman but his statistics are not that much better than Clarke's (even if we consider the different eras).

Not to mention his well known squabbles with his team mates that looked silly and lol worthy from a third person's standpoint. Good batsman, but with a sub 50 average and definitely not an ATG. Just scoring a triple century is not enough to be categorized as one. Even Gayle and McCullum have scored triple tons.

Even Gayle and McCullum have scored triple tons.[/quote'] For all intents and purposes 49.5 counts as a 50 average. I do not think anyone regards him as an ATG. Definitely an Australian great though. From most accounts I've read of him and his interviews he comes across as a very humble person. He hasn't stretched out his career too long. At most he played 1 year longer than he should have.

He wanted to grab Ashes glory too and that ended disastrously for him and Australia. The guy has been a walking wicket all series and the manner of his dismissals cringe worthy.
Lannister Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Whenever I see Clarke I always remember how he used to behave arrogant and cocky just like Ponting, never really liked this guy. But after Phil Hughes saga he looks like a really changed person. Good for him.
adi B Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 How time flies,as if it was yesterday when he made his debut in odis against us in gabba in 2004 (I used to copy his batting style back then) and that ton in Bangalore on debut .now he is retiring!! Only 10-11 years of career,could have played more but the bad back finished him
Shivaji bhonsle Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I'll never forget that one incident of him when he was waiting for umpire to raise his finger when he edged one to dravid of kumble 's bowling in 2008-09 series. However, I think he was young when he did that. So, I would remember him as an aggressive player and captain. Typical Aussie player who fights till the very end. Lovely to watch when he is on full flow.. Hope he plays well in this series to finish it off.
MK55 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Time goes by so fast. Remember him making his debut against India in 2004. Not so comfortable against the short ball but a very gritty player. Played with a fractured shoulder of Morne Morkel and scored a century in SA to win the test
