Actually, nearly all of these players are "dashers" - great IPL and T20 heroes. Kohli avgs around 50 in both ODIs and T20s at a good SR, Rahane and Nohit have had a lot of success in T20s as well. If anything, what we need are technically sound players who can grind down an opposition. If you think that Dhawan, Kohli, Nohit, Rahul, etc have that ability to occupy the crease, you are solely mistaken - we lack someone like Dravid or SRT. It is precisely this tendency to ask for dashers instead of technically correct batsmen like Bawne that has led to our downfall.

Most of the team is comprised of people who made their mark in T20s (or ODIs). Most of them have loose techniques, can't grit it out, etc. There is no need for more "dashers" - give me a team of 6 Azhar Alis, Younis Khans and Misbahs (none of whom are dashers), and it would be so much better.

It's not about attacking shots , but lack of defensive shots ..the problem with dashers is exactly that . Some of the wickets have been cos of harmless balls which could have been easily defended by good players

Nothing special was needed to win this. Two batsmen had to play naturally and sensibly and the game was ours. But a totally defensive mindset was going to head nowhere. Only one batsman made a fight of this, and if one more batsman had stepped up, we should have won.

Dhawan was completely out of groove, may be it was due to his injury. The highest partnership we had was 19, which is woefully inadequate to win any game. This also put pressure on every batsman who played the game. If two of our batsmen had formed a partnership in excess of 50, we should have won this match. The only partnership that looked like getting India anywhere near the target was Rahane-Mishra but by then it was too late.
