Difficult to assume he had lost so much pace by that age.

I seriously doubt whether Hadlee was 140+ at any time. Watching cricket footage from 80's courtesy robelinda2, only Imran Khan, Holding, Pascoe and to some extent Bob Willis looked quick on tv. Of course there might have been other bowlers who were quicker, but the 4 bowlers I mentioned looked the quickest on tv.

What did Lille do outside of the bowling friendly wickets of Australia England and New Zealand ? Its a joke when he is rated as among the top 3-4 fast bowlers in world cricket . If Jayawardne had born in Australia or England he would have been hyped as the greatest by these jokers no doubt .

Very interesting link. Never knew that Roberts was that fast... I mean, he was genuine fast of course, but his 1975 speeds are only slightly lesser than Thommo. Nice to see Daniel on the list - contemporaries believed him to be pretty quick (ditto for Sylveste Clarke). Tyson was definitely believed by contemporaries to be faster than 90 mph - prob touching 100 mph in his fastest ever deliveries. Quoted speed of Larwood seems believable too. Sad to see Ngam fizzled out so fast - had he played, might have become better than Ntini.

Played 1 test in WI couldn't even take a wicket .Played a 3 test series in Pakistan averaging 100 . Outside those three countries he has taken a total of 6 wickets entire career.Always chickened out from sub continent tours as well. How can you rate a player as best ever (or even top3-5) when he has done zilch in away from home against best two teams of his time ? Please tell me would u rate Sachin or Viv or Sanga top 3-5 if they have done zilch against Aus and SA ?

4 tests is too small a statistical sample. If Viv, Sanga or SRT had done badly against one team in 4 Tests, I wouldn't care, regd of who they were. In fact, Sanga avgs in the 30s away against 3 teams (Ind, WI and SA) but it does not diminish his capabilities.

I don't consider Lillee as the best ever or anything, but I would not rate him as low as you seem to either. Regd Sachin, even if he avg less than 10 in a sample of just 4 tests (against Aus and SA), it would not affect my belief much. Even with Sachin's current stats, he is not my pick in the top 3 all time batsmen.
