Ali is more closer to Raina than Symons. Raina a better batsmen while Ali is a better bowler
Ali is not an excellent player, but he's worth twice that of Rahane - for starters, he's a proper bowler unlike Raina who is just a part-timer (and useless outside SC). Also a better bat than Raina in Tests.

He's a much improved version of Raina in test cricket.

Ali? Rahane? I think Rahane is the better bat... but the latter doesn't bowl.

Oops sorry Raina I meant, was watching Rahane bat and must have slipped out.

Rahane's classy batting is making both of us forget what we are talking about. :winky:

He has bigger issues with short ball than Raina , purely as a test batsmen hes not good enough even in home conditions hes alright just like rain a. In LOI is though Raina is a one of the best ever , Ali does not have the power game to match raina . Superior bowler no doubts about that

Raina wont make it to any above average test lineup - England today are an above average test lineup or at least getting there.
Thats cos they need a spin option . Imagine if England had Ashwin , Ali would not be in the team

I thought we are comparing Tests, not ODIs. In ODIs, Raina is the better batsman... but certainly not "one of the best ever" - just from India, there are at least 4-5 batsmen better than him in ODI history.

How nice of you to ignore MSD for these spots.

MSD is shoe in as wicket Keeper bat .That's why I said no.5 or no.6 depending upon where Dhoni bats As if I would ignore Dhoni lol

Ali is a utility player a very good one and England is using him extremely well . Raina is very under rated as a LOI player he would make it to my all time LOI 11

For India? Probably yes. Would be hard to squeeze Yuvi, him and MSD in that middle order though.

Aussies treating him with so much respect...this is the problem with bowlers like Jadeja and Ali...you don't know where to draw the line. They are not as bad as they look with the ball and at the same time you can't let them get away with tight spells as they are not frontline bowlers.
