Rahane should be back at his successful #5 position

He has been doing just great/fantastic at #5. Successful player, no need to mess with his spot just because flair cannot bat. Why sacrifice Rahane when he is doing well for us... Agree? http%253A%252F%252Fs.ndtvimg.com%252Fimages%252Fcontent%252F2014%252Fjul%252F806%252Fajinkya-rahane-test-ton-india.jpg

As a team we need to maximize the amount of runs each batsman gets. If Rohit gets the maximum amount of runs down the order, then we should try to accommodate him there if possible (because there are few better options). It takes several innings to get adjusted to a new batting position. If Rahane can adapt to #3 then it will be great for the rest of the team. If he can't then of course he should be moved back to #5. To maximize the runs of Rohit we can't harm Rahane.

All this back and forth is NOT good. If it ain't broke, then dont fix it. Rahane is already doing well at #5 so dont muck up the one or two bright spots in our lineup. We cannot bend over backwards to fit Nohit.

He got a hundred at #3. He used to open for Mumbai. So it's not like he can't do well there. Maybe give him some more time to settle down

His technique is not suited for no 3. He is great with the older ball. And why should you experiment with a settle player who is successful? Makes zero sense.

Playing Rahane at 3 makes no sense at all. Not only has most of his success come at 5 ....our team needs a solid lower-middle order batsmen to steady the innings to handle the not-so-infrequent batting collapses. Our lower middle order, from 5 to 7, of Rohit ,Saha/ Naman, Binny does not inspire much confidence. Why would Kohli take the risk of reducing the efficiency of his most successful test batsman to incorporate his least successful test batsman ?

To protect someone who is Very, Very "Special" to him - Nohit.

To protect someone who is Very' date=' Very "Special" to him - Nohit.[/quote'] From "suffering due to Dhoni's favourites" to "suffering due to Kohli's favourites"....we fans seem to be on a similar boat as far as player selection goes.

To protect someone who is Very' date=' Very "Special" to him - Nohit.[/quote'] Lets not write him off completely. If he works hard and knows when to play and when to leave he can still develop into a great player. He definitely has the shots and talent. I remember people saying same things about him when he had an ODI average of 28. Now look so many big innings including overseas like in MCG vs Aus and BD. Great players like Kallis, Waugh had poor starts after same number of tests as Rohit. I still believe if we works hard on knowing where his off stump is he is still more talented than other middle order batters in Ranji. He has also piled on the runs in Ranji. Should be persisted with with for at least 1 more series. On topic: Yes Rahane at 5, Pujara at 3. Rohit at 6 or reserves depending on tactics. Rahul reserve opener.

So touching to see you equate Nohit with Kallis and Waugh. Who next? Trumper? (same avg and all that)

No' date=' he should keep getting thrown to the wolves at #3, fail a few times and then dropped in favor of the "aggressive" Raina.[/quote'] Who will also be labelled as the next Mankad in the SC.

Understand the requirement to tinker under new management to change things' date=' but one feels even things working well has been unnecessarily being changed like this Rahane case.[/quote'] Very simple - for this team management, plain, blue collar types like Pujara, Rahane, Bhuvi etc are expendables to be thrown under the bus to protect "talented" players.

Seems like a right stmt nevada. Plain boring ones like puj, rahane, bhuvi, vijay are expendables. If vijay has a few low scores in subsequent matches, watch what kohli does with vijay. This is a FLASHY team, flashy flair ones (T20 guys) airy-fairy shots are part of the team.
