Ishant is still India's best test pacer (sad but true). Aaron and Yadav aren't as good as Ishant yet. Aaron will be dropped for sure and Ishant will replace him. After how Ishant bowled in SL, it will be stupid to leave him out. Dhawan possibly will be dropped too. There is a possibility of Rohit coming in and Pujara pushed to open or India can play Rahul as a keeper and drop Saha.

Ishant did well on a pitch which helped pacers.

He was accurate though and bowled 135 k to 143 k. We have to give him that. 

He has combined decent pace + decent bounce + decent accuracy ...best among Indian pacers .... starting from the New Zealand tour in 2014.

well, india never drops player, on previous tests performances, which sounds funny but true.Even ganguly, says Dhawan should retain in banglore. I do not think saha  replace with K. Rahul.

if india looking for the future,this is the right time to try Chand or Rahul [ only for opener job ] for opening slot with Vijay, yet in test matches india never experiment new faces,

In srilanka, kohli do not wants to bat upper in batting so he keep changing, rahane / pujara/Rahul's batting position.southafrica is very good test side

RSA only loose two test, in last   5 years, out side of rsa, [ Mohali ] plus since 2006 never loose test series outside of southafrica, it could be possible , india may beaten in banglore without steyn.india is nothing without Vijay/pujara, india need to re-group in banglore, otherwise Rsa will beat india. our batsman batted very poorly in the 2nd innings.

I retained rohit  as he hits 100 yesterday vs good attack plus he has good record at banglore in all format [ its help for selection, plus he is better fielder too ] he was only released to play ranji matches to tune up , which he proved ,[ manpret and gurukeerat, will release during banglore test and rohit will return in the team of 15 ]

I can predict series 2/2 Or SOUTHAFRICA winning series.india looks poor in batting with big tails.they must selects allrounder soon for 6 and 7 spot, who can make runs, otherwise we will be beaten vs World Champion SouthAfrica

Ishant is a very good bowler and our best test pacer by a long margin. Only someone not in their right minds will play Umesh or Aaron ahead of him just for the the extra pace. Both Aaron and Umesh cannot give the control which Ishant gives to the captain. He is for sure going to come back into the X1. India will play the same combination which they employed in SL, except for Jaddu replacing Binny in the X1. Ishant, Umesh, Ashwin and Mishra will be the 4 bowlers.

I am expecting Dhawan to be dropped too but it will be interesting if KL Rahul replaces him in his home town or if Kohli goes for Rohit making Pujara open with Vijay.

Would it be wise to drop Aaron and Yadav who are in sorta decent rhythm in 1st Test? (and instead bring in I.S. who may be a bit rusty?). I'd advocate for retaining Aaron and Yadav (and if one of them is dropped, get an Extra Batsman)

Ishant isnt rusty. He played 2 Ranji trophy matches and did well. Picked a 6-fer in one of them.

Ishant should replace Varun in the playing XI as Umesh has better wicket-taking skills, esp in Indian conditions.

I personally think we should get down to one pacer (Ishant) and include Gurkeerat. That way we get 4 spinners and one pacer and also an extra batsman. It's a gutsy call I know but that's what the time wants ... 

4 spinners are never needed because spinners can bowl long spells.

Kohli is not in favour of playing just a batsman at no.6 and in most cases I support him.

If 3 other spinners are there then Gurkeerat would just be a batsman and his bowling would be unutilized. I am ok with him replacing Binny in the current team.

Yes...I think Gurkeerat would probably have been a better pick than Binny.
