express bowling Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Kohli had a poor series but in the last test match, he was playing really well but was unlucky to get out in both the innings.Our biggest problems in batting are Rohit and Dhawan.Saha is ok at no.7 but not fit to be a no.6 batsman. If we want to play 5 bowlers then we need a " good keeper + proper batsman." doccricket 1

rkt.india Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Can Gopal qualify as a no.6 batsman in tests ? I have never seen him bat.He opened for Karnataka U23 teams and always batted in top 6. He was always a batsman who could bowl. He has started to bat in top 6 for karnataka.

I am very interested to know.Kohli is a very confident and aggressive test captain who wants to win at all costs....and has the confidence of winning both the full test series he has captained.We have seen Kohli, Rahane and Pujara do very well in the last test series played in South Africa. Vijay has matured after that tour also. A bowling lineup of Umesh, Ishant, Shami and Ashwin would be quite competitive too....after the confidence Umesh and Ashwin has gained due to the recently concluded test series.If K L Rahul replaces Dhawan then our opening pair would be better.Apart from the no.6 slot...we would have a captain and team who can give the SA a run for their money. If they prepare green tops then Umesh, Ishant, Shami and Aaron maybe more potent than on flat tracks....that is what we have seen in the past foreign tours.SA is a very difficult opponent in their own backyard though and it would still be tough for us. I am very interested to know.well the young indian did bat great in the saf tour 2013 against 3 world class pacers and kallis as well,it was the bowling (especially a washed out zak and an inexperienced ashwin) which let us down.after that series india realised that playing 5 bowlers including 1 AR is so important in tests away from SC.I think if the current bowlers I.e yadav,Pishant,shami,bhuvi and ashwin go to saf,they'll perform much better than how we fared in 2013 doccricket 1
